Pandox runs Lübeck 4-star hotel under new flag

Frank Senger, General Manager Holiday Inn Lübeck

New leasehold agreements for the IHG brand Holiday Inn at the beginning of the year

Lübeck, 01/01/2013. The Hotel Scandic Lübeck has been transformed into a Holiday Inn overnight at the turn of the year. After the leasehold agreements with Scandic regularly expired, the new contracts for the 4-star hotel were signed by a new partner in a smooth transition: the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG). That means the hotel will now be managed under their brand Holiday Inn and run in a franchise cooperation by Pandox.

The real estate company Pandox operates and manages from its corporate headquarters in Stockholm. However, the new hotel will be run by a management team with local expertise – as is the case for all hotels owned by the prestigious company in the hotel trade. „It“s part of Pandox’s business philosophy and a sign of active ownership to run the hotels we own by ourselves. The agreement enables us to intensify our partnership with IHG, with whom we currently operate five hotels“, states Anders Nissen, CEO of Pandox.

Pandox have been able to gain an expert with both international and local expertise for management of the Lübeck 4-star hotel: Frank Senger entered his new position as General Manager at the Holiday Inn Lübeck on January 1st 2013. Born in Hannover, Frank Senger occupied leading positions in his career e.g with Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts in Lübeck, Berlin and on Crete and with Meliá Hotels International in Berlin and Münster. „I am very pleased to support the team of Pandox Lübeck GmbH as General Manager for the Holiday Inn Lübeck. As I have already worked in Lübeck from 2002 until 2005 I look forward to return and to work with the fantastic philosophy of Pandox in regards of team spirit, company spirit and corporate culture. With the planned renovation, we will position the hotel newly on the market. This is a wonderful challenge to which I am personally are very pleased,“ states Frank Senger at the outset of his new mission.

After the acquisition of the hotel business by Pandox, investments and building improvements totalling 2.5 million euros are planned in the Holiday Inn Lübeck. As General Manager Frank Senger comments on these plans: „Thanks to this renovation, we will reposition the hotel on the market. This is a wonderful challenge that I“m personally looking forward to.“ The established building in Lübeck currently has over 159 rooms and suites, a restaurant, wellness area with inside pool, fitness room and sauna. It is located in the centre of the Hanseatic City, in the immediate vicinity of the most popular attractions and only 15 minutes by car to the airport.

With its transformation into a Holiday Inn, the hotel is, in a certain way, returning to its roots: before it was run as a Scandic-Hotel, it had operated for some years under the brand Holiday Inn.

Pandox is one of Europe’s leading players and investors in hotel real estate in terms of geographical spread, number of hotels, brands and size.
