New tML splice module enables maximum packing density and brings new functionality
Dortmund/Germany, 29 Octobre 2024. Even more efficient use of the tML system platform from tde – trans data elektronik GmbH in the data centre: The new tML splice module 0.5U for up to 24 fibre optic splices combines the impossible, enabling the highest packing density and functionality. It supports up to 192 splices per height unit and at the same time has a new feature – it can now even be spliced on the tML platform. Another functional feature is the flexible application option. It is compatible with various connectors as well as with all tML systems. The new tML splice module 0.5U is ideal for applications where pre-assembled trunk cables are either too long or unsuitable due to tight cable pathways.
With this enhancement, tde has further optimised the use of the modular tML system platform. As there is space for up to eight of the tML splice modules in the module rack on one height, the tML splice module 0.5U allows the platform to be packed with up to 192 fibre optic splices per height unit. „In data centres, space is usually very limited and expensive. We therefore focus all our new product developments on further optimising the packing density and thus on using the available space as efficiently as possible,“ says Andre Engel, Managing Director of tde. „The new tML splice module 0.5U can also accommodate just 12 splices, not necessarily 24. With the new splice module, we are taking another decisive step forwards and into the future. What sets the new module apart is its exceptional functionality, offering the added benefit of enabling splicing directly on the tML platform. Our new splice module is, if you will, the ultimate solution for our tML system platform – offering nothing but advantages, meeting every need, and fulfilling all requirements.“
Flexible application options – compatible with all common connectors
The module is compatible with all common fibre optic connectors such as CS, LC, MDC and SN. The module is versatile and can be used in various tML rack mount enclosures, whether permanently installed or extractable. It features four entries for flexible tubes or pipes at the back. The flexible tubes can be inserted and locked in place from above, while the pipes can be fixed in place with cable ties.
The splice tray, which folds upwards, divides the module into two levels. The excess length of the loose tube can be neatly stored beneath the splice cassette, while the cassette itself offers space for mounting two splice holders for crimp splice protection.
Versatile combination options: can be combined with all tML modules
The splice module is particularly useful in situations where pre-assembled trunk cables are impractical due to their length or the limited space in cable trays. It can also be used in combination with single-ended pre-assembled trunk cables and seamlessly integrated with other modules on the tML system platform. It is also possible to combine pre-assembled cables with conventional splicing technology, meaning both fibre optic and copper modules can be combined on the platform, allowing efficient use of the height unit.
The new fibre optic splice module is compatible with all tML systems, such as tML Standard, tML Extended, tML 24, tML24+ and tML 32. In conjunction with the tML rack mount enclosure for fixed installation, it can also be used in the tDF distributor for ODF applications.
The tML – tde Modular Link-System
tML is a patented, modular cabling system consisting of three key components: the module, trunk cable and rack. The system components are 100 percent manufactured, pre-assembled and tested in Germany. They enable plug-and-play installation on site – especially in data centres, but also in industrial environments – within the shortest possible time. The heart of the system are the rear MPO/MTP or MMC and Telco connectors, which can be used to connect at least six or twelve ports at a time. Depending on module configuration, transmission rates of up to 800 G are currently possible. The fiber optic and TP modules can be used together in a module carrier with high port density.
For more than 30 years the tde – trans data elektronik GmbH, an internationally successful company, has specialised in the development and production of scalable cabling systems for highest packing density. In addition, the nuclear research centre CERN relies on the know-how of the leading company in multi-fiber technics (MPO). The company’s portfolio „Made in Germany“ contains complete system solutions with a focus on Plug-and-play for high-speed applications in fields such as datacom, telecom, industry, medical and defence. tde offers both planning and installation services through its own service department and supports the „European Code of Conduct“ when it comes to energy efficiency in data centres.
