Perfectly Precise Time Reading Thanks to Double-size Scale
(k-press) Deceleration by acceleration – this is the simple yet brilliant idea behind the Janus DoubleSpeed by Neuhaus. Mono-hand watches come without the minute hand – there is just an hour hand; however, to allow for down-to-the-minute indication of time, that hour hand runs at double speed. The dial has only six hour marks, each of which is assigned with two times at a difference of six hours. After all, you will normally know whether it is just before four o’clock or a few minutes to ten. The double operating speed allows for doubling the size of the scale: of the hour, quarter-hour, and (most importantly) 5-minute segments on the dial. This results in a degree of readability unprecedented among mono-hand watches.
Another innovative feature is the night-vision solution. It becomes visible only when you need it – in the dark. At daylight, it is virtually invisible, thus allowing for an unobtrusive appearance of the dial. The amazing difference between the day and night appearances gave the watch its name: Janus, the two-faced Roman God. But how do you know whether the watch is actually running? Instead of a second hand, which would make no sense for a mono-hand watch, there is a rotating disc featuring black and white sectors that can be seen through three small cutouts in the dial. From the rotation, you can see at a glance that the watch is running – another innovative feature that gives peace of mind to the wearer of a mono-hand watch. This accelerated watch is the perfect companion in the age of deceleration. It incorporates a Unitas 6498 hand-winding movement converted to double speed with outstanding watchmaking expertise. Among experts, that movement has an excellent reputation for its robustness and reliability. You can watch it through the sapphire-glass bottom. Of course, both the bottom and the glass cover are scratch-proof.
Designed as your reliable companion, the Janus DoubleSpeed is a mature watch in every respect. Actually, it is made for being worn on the wrist rather than becoming part of a watch enthusiast’s collection for admiration. Therefore, all components from the watchcase to the bracelet to the elaborately designed crown are of highest quality.
The fact that the watch will nevertheless grace only very few wrists is the result of a strict limitation to 99 items worldwide. This remarkable model is the first product of a newly established German luxury-watch brand: Neuhaus Inventing Timepieces. Their motto is: „Expect the unexpected!“ The brand was founded in 2010 by mastermind Manuel Neuhaus, a well-established graphics designer and a creative perfectionist when it comes to aesthetics and technology. He designs watches according to the old Bauhaus philosophy: form follows function. Of course, there must be innovative functions for the form to follow. Neuhaus perfectly satisfies the Bauhaus philosophy – he is definitely serious about inventing. „There is a good reason for the existence of each watch we build,“ says Manuel Neuhaus. „Otherwise, we would just not build it.“ Neuhaus watches are produced in smallest quantities and exclusively by renowned watchmaking experts from Germany and Switzerland. They are sold only through the Neuhaus web store in order to ensure excellent value for money.
