Frankfurt/Germany. Ronny Kazyska (M.Sc.) assesses the current challenging market situation for brokerage firms in a guest article on page 2 of the current issue of Immobilien Zeitung (14-2023 / 06.04.2023). Due to the dynamic interest rate turnaround by the European Central Bank (ECB), activity in the transaction market in Germany has decreased sharply. Market participants are waiting for a signal from the European Central Bank that the cycle of interest rate hikes is over. The consequences of the low level of transaction activity are significantly lower commission revenues for real estate agents.
Therefore, Ronny Kazyska recommends that real estate brokers establish a second line of business that generates more stable revenues independent of activity on the transaction market. In the past, after completing a bachelor’s degree in real estate economics, he also completed a master’s degree in real estate valuation at the University of Anhalt. He then successfully passed two personal certifications exams as an expert in real estate valuation by the globally recognized international standard DIN EN ISO/IEC 17024 at HypZert and the University of Anhalt (izert). The real estate valuation business is less dependent on transaction market activities than is the case in the brokerage business.
