6D-Robotic Couch for highest safety demands
The Radiotherapy Patient System (RPS), a 6D-Robotic-Couch for radiotherapy of cancer patients, documents fully automatically the process during the treatment with a linear accelerator. This is ensured by an integrated RFID reader, which reads in patient data and selected supporting aids (add-ons), providing those for further software and documentation of the treatment. In case that the operating personnel select wrong add-ons, RPS will automatically detect this and send a signal accordingly. „This feature ensures maximum safety for the patient“, summarizes Guido Kübler, Managing Director of gKteso.
The automated documentation and control makes preparation for treatment not only reproducible but also documentable. „The clinic staff no longer needs to enter data manually“, explains Kübler. It has an advantageous effect on the efficiency of administrative efforts, allowing more room for individual patient care. Aside from the time and duration of the treatment with a linear accelerator, also the exact patient positioning during radiotherapy will be provided as data set.
Safety aspects are priority
Safety aspects are priority in RPS. Already during the development of the innovative patient platforms, great importance has been attached to the respective safety concept. „Our goal is to reduce potential dangers for patients and operating personnel as far as possible“, emphasizes Kübler. gKteso is OEM-Partner to distinguished international companies specializing in medical technology. In cooperation with these partners, various patient platforms have been designed and adapted to specific requirements.
gKteso introduces two models of the innovative 6D-Robotic-Couch: RPS base and RPS extended. RPS base permits patient alignment without any unnecessary corrections, based on stored patient data. The patient platform“s flexible mobility by six degrees of freedom as well as a user-friendly, reliable alignment of the patient platform represents the most important advantage of RPS base.
Aside from all advantages offered by the basic model, RPS extended allows positioning and fixation of up to three patients for radiotherapy at the same time. In RPS extended, these preliminary works take place in separate anterooms. Via automated satellite arms, patients are gently moved to the system, where they are then conveyed to the linear accelerator. This is where the operating personnel can review fine settings on the patient. As soon as radiotherapy is completed, the patient will be transferred back to the cabin and may leave the patient platform. Both RPS base and RPS extended feature high rigidity and are designed for dynamic corrections. Further advantage: All add-ons for patient fixation as well as positioning aids may be attached to the patient platforms.
The low entry-height ensures convenient ascending of the patient platform. The large procedural area from head to pelvis provides additional comfort.

About gKteso:
gKteso specializes in the development of patient platforms with 6D control for radiotherapy with linear accelerators, among other areas. With its RPS base and RPS extended models gKteso is now entering the international medical technology market. About 25 years ago, mechanical engineer Guido Kübler, founder and Managing Director of the company, started with the development and production of 6D-controlled patient platforms for hospitals and specialist practices. As a classic OEM, the company distributes these products to distinguished international partners. The patient platform RPS extended by gKteso convinces clinics and medical centers with numerous features making radiotherapy with linear accelerator both more efficient and more comfortable for the patient. The accurate, reproducible positioning as well as the patient fixation is an essential aspect. The efficiency of the innovative system represents another important advantage, as with RPS extended up to three patients may be simultaneously prepared for radiotherapy with a linear accelerator by means of a specific satellite system.
