Jena, September 23, 2025 – The new LEONARDO® Dual 20 laser from biolitec® for endovenous laser therapy enables refinement of the art of ensuring the correct penetration depth with optimal water absorption by combining the wavelengths 1470 nm and 1940 nm. With this laser, biolitec® sets new standards in precision, tissue preservation, and effectiveness in the treatment of varicose veins.

By means of individually adjustable energy dosage and mixing of wavelengths for maximum effectiveness at minimum thermal stress, the Dual 20 enables the treatment to be precisely adjusted to the respective patient and the individual anatomical areas. The proven and effective 1470 nm wavelength with high absorption in water is very well suited for safe, controlled shrinkage of the vein wall and is ideal for large trunk veins. With even higher water absorption and lower penetration depth, the more precise and tissue-friendly 1940 nm wavelength is particularly effective in the inner layers of the vein wall (intima and media; see illustration) for optimal control in sensitive areas. The Dual 20 allows optimal adjustment of settings to various treatment situations on the leg. In the saphenofemoral junction area, high combined power and energy ensure optimal closure. The wavelength parameters can be adjusted to extra-fascial side branches. Adaptation to muscle veins and nerves in the popliteal anatomy is also possible. The device also supports adaptation to the target parameters when treating the small saphenous vein, so that the nerves are spared. By combining 1470 nm and 1940 nm, the LEONARDO® Dual 20 therefore offers more flexibility for physicians and maximum safety for patients – with maximum effectiveness.

The laser is the perfect complement to ELVeS® Radial® 2ring technology and offers a power output of 20 watts (12 watts at 1470 nm and 8 watts at 1940 nm). It is operated via an intuitive touchscreen. The device supports fiber diameters from 360 micrometers and offers various treatment modes such as CW, Pulse Mode, ELVeS® Signal, and ELVeS® Segment. With a weight of approximately 8.5 kg and dimensions of approx. 28 cm x 37 cm x 9 cm, the system is extremely compact and portable.
