Frankfurt/Main, 5. August 2013: EuroMold is one of the world’s leading trade fairs for Moldmaking and Tooling, Design and Application Development. As the only annual trade fair for machine tools in Germany, it has become an established must-attend event for manufacturers and users in the industry. From 3 to 6 December, generative processes and services will compete with conventional methods at EuroMold 2013. Under the EuroMold banner „From idea to series production“, it provides manufacturers of machine tools with a unique exhibition environment that attracts users and buyers from around the world.

On the 20th anniversary of EuroMold, the organizer DEMAT GmbH presents a special show for this field: the „VDI/NCG guidelines – test work pieces for machine tools.“ This special show is presented in cooperation with the VDI, the Association of German Engineers, and the NC Society, which is dedicated to promoting the implementation of more efficient production technologies. At the special show suppliers can have their test pieces for machine tools evaluated according to standardized guidelines, which were developed by VDI and NCG, and present the audience with live proof of their expertise right there at the show.

The VDI/NCG guidelines with their test work pieces are also used in the evaluation and shown at this special show. These guidelines are applied to the precisely defined test scenarios (geometry, CNC data, technology, measurement points, documentation) to the active principles of 3-axis milling, 5-axis simultaneous milling, micro-milling, 2D water-jet cutting, 3D WSS and micro WSS as well as micro-wire EDM. The application of uniform guidelines allows an unambiguous statement of quality, whereas even the process capability is partially recorded.

The aim of the special show is to highlight the practical evaluation of the quality of certain procedures. Uniform standards of quality measurement are a guarantee that both manufacturers and users of machine tools have a solid basis for assessment. Users can better assess the quality of machine tools based on the test work pieces, and manufacturers can apply then to optimize the respective machine tool. Moreover, the VDI/NCG guidelines are also used in the inspection and approval of machine tools.

„With this special show and the VDI/NCG guidelines, we provide visitors to EuroMold with objective standards for quality measurement,“ explains Dr. Eberhard Döring, CEO of the organizer DEMAT GmbH. „This way the new developments on exhibit can be assessed right away at the fair using uniform criteria.“

From 2013, this new attraction at EuroMold shall be an integral part of the international trade fair. It is also planned to extend the test scenarios previously related to quality aspects to statements on energy efficiency in future.
