Whether for area monitoring, in geology, in the security branch, in industrial maintenance, in science, in disaster control or in human rescue: Drones reliably and economically take over tasks that have up until now been difficult and cost intensive to carry out. Now the company Dronesystec in Dresden (Saxony) is bringing two new systems to the market in summer, which are especially developed for extreme requirements and security projects.
„A couple of months ago we received an inquiry from a natural reserve operator in Brazil about whether we could develop a flying monitoring system with which an approximately 40 hectare area in Brazil, consisting of various ground and vegetation conditions as well as tropical climatic conditions, could be reliable monitored from the air in order to permanently supply current zoological information“, explains Thomas Budniok, managing director of Dronesystec and manufacturer PMD in Dresden. From this came a complete new development of monitoring drones which can economically and reliably take over these tasks with GPS, the most modern telemetry, camera and thermal image technology and special sensors.
Dronesystec will initially bring two different systems to the market, which differentiate themselves primarily with regard to their size, flight length, capacity and loading capacity.
The two systems, with the designations DS 1000 and DS 1200, are composed entirely of carbon fibres, titanium and newly developed non-flammable fibre composite. The drones will be completely developed and produced in the Technology Centre of the company PMD in Dresden, in accordance with strict quality standards of international aerospace technology.
Development and project partners for this are, on the one hand, the internationally renowned research institute Fraunhofer, with whom the new sensors for gas, pollutants and later also warfare agents are currently being developed. On the other hand, with the drones a new fibre composite technology from the company Belchem in Saxony will be used. These special fibres are inflammable up to a temperature range of over 1,100 degrees Celsius, and therefore secure the use of the drones even in extreme situations such as, for example, the fighting of fires. These fibres are already being successfully used in the international civil and military aviation industry, for example at Airbus, EADS, Sikorsky, Emraer and Boeing.
Currently, Dronesystec is testing further technological requirements, such as, for example the gunfire security of the system, the use for contaminant recognition in catastrophes, special projects for project monitoring and the achievement of flight times of up to two hours.
After finalisation of the first development stages the first flight is planned for June. Following this Dronesystec will start with the production of the first series of drone systems.
Distribution in Germany is planned for the start of 2014 at the earliest, for the time being the company is focusing on business relationships in South America and the United Arab Emirates.
