The high-speed MLR cellular router from INSYS icom allows users to monitor mobile machines via GPS
INSYS icom adds a number of features to its well-established MLR series of highspeed cellular routers.
A new GPS functionality, for instance, enables the continuous localization of mobile machines such as large emergency generators or construction equipment. It facilitates route management, route monitoring, and location detection, an advantage especially for leased equipment.
The cellular routers enable remote access to mobile machines and vehicles, allowing users for instance to perform updates and maintenance services or to change parameters. Additionally, the units can send alarms in case of failure. Furthermore, thanks to an integrated Linux platform (sandbox), individual application programs can be stored – for example route plans which react to deviations by sending an alarm, or a script that generates a Google Maps link based on the position data.
The industrial grade mobile LAN routers combine the functions of a mobile radio modem, a router, and a switch in one unit. They connect remote Ethernet LANs or individual components with the internet via the mobile communication services GPRS and UMTS. The bandwidths are similar to DSL: the devices support the UMTS/HSPA data transmission protocol which provides transmission rates of more than 1 Mbit/s during upload and download.
Now optionally available for the GSM-Railway wireless communication network, MLR routers are also suitable for traffic engineering applications. Up to four devices or controllers can be directly connected via RJ45 ports. The routers feature an additional serial interface. The housing dimensions are 33 x 155 x 120 mm.
Founded in 1992, INSYS icom is a well-established technology partner for standardised products and individual solutions in industrial data communication and M2M technology. The company’s product portfolio ranges from simple serial modems to integrated mobile radio routers. Customers from various industry sectors, such as electric vehicle charging, energy, traffic engineering, me-chanical engineering, industrial plant construction and the public sector use INSYS icom’s durable solutions for various applications such as remote access, alarm messages and monitoring processes, and the efficient secure integration of systems. INSYS icom products are available in all types of data transfer technology with a wide range of features as DIN rail versions, in 19″ racks, as tabletop units and as board versions for easy integration. For many products, customers can use a freely available LINUX Sandbox to program their own applications, and use preset demo images for easy adaptation. INSYS icom’s technical support team helps customers find solutions to individual requirements and works in close cooperation with the development department regarding customer inquiries for new developments in the areas of hardware, applications or technology, thereby enabling clients to act quickly and efficiently.
