Innovative E3 breakthrough engineering barriers to create very first mass-produced, fully automated biomass generator in the world
Düsseldorf – ENTRADE Energiesysteme AG has developed the smallest power plant in the world. The E3 will provide decentralized energy in developed and emerging markets. In a high-temperature reactor the compact power station uses wood pellets to generate high-quality syngas, which powers an internal-combustion engine and produces up to 22 kW of electricity and 55 kW of thermal energy. It is the first patented, mass-produced, fully automated biomass generator in the world, operating on or off-grid. In addition, the cost of the system is significantly lower than its alternative technology competitors.
Compared to similar technologies the generation of gas in the innovative biomass generator produces very little tar – at only 545mg/Nm3 as well as 367mg/Nm3 at the outlet of the paper filter. The testing was performed and published by the Fraunhofer Institute for Environment, Safety and Energy Technology UMSICHT. Comparable technologies generate much higher tar level, which lead to the build-up of residues and contaminate mechanical components in everyday operations and cause technical breakdowns.
The compact plant fits on two pallets and is easily transportable by airfreight
With a length of 186 cm, width of 156 cm and height of 200 cm the biomass generator is compact and can be easily transported anywhere in the world. Its modular concept enables individual units to be combined to form a larger plant. Compared with other energy generating sources, both conventional and renewable, the power provided by the E3 is competitive even without government incentives. It can be consumed locally or sold to the electricity grid. The power plant also provides heating and cooling. The E3 technology is protected by 14 patents, 8 years of research, and more than 50 million euro invested in research and development.
Power, heating and cooling – available locally everywhere
The original visionary concept of the E3 is for the use in emerging countries where a single power plant can supply up to 400 people, in other words an entire village – with low-cost electricity around the clock. There is a market for the E3 wherever diesel generators are currently in use, because biomass fuel is plentiful and costs significantly less than diesel.
More than 30 units will come into operation in total of eight countries in the next couple of months, including a project sponsored by the World Bank, aiming to supply a village in Uganda with electricity.
Ecobuild London has been a great success for ENTRADE to launch in the UK
Launching the E3 in the UK on the 3rd of March has been a great success. There were more than 400 appointments and visitors and the E3 was pronounced to be the most exciting product at the fair. ENTRADE earmarked 20 E3 for the UK market and more than 50% have been ordered within three weeks.
The ENTRADE team will be available for any questions and queries on 13-17 April, in Hall 27 at Stand E40, exhibiting jointly with the North Rhine Westphalia state.
