Apprenticeship and training at SKIDATA Switzerland – internship at the Austrian headquarters
Few apprentices have the opportunity to gain experience abroad during their training. Rahel, an apprentice at SKIDATA Switzerland, was therefore especially excited to have the chance to learn more about headquarters in Grödig near Salzburg, Austria. Rahel completed her commercial training at SKIDATA and joined her Austrian colleagues for two weeks. During her stay, she greatly appreciated the positive working atmosphere and her colleagues“ team spirit. She also gained professional knowledge during her time in Austria and has taken valuable experience back home with her.
Comprehensive insight into everyday work at SKIDATA
Rahel got to know about workflows in the Human Resources Department. Here topics such as recruiting, job ads and descriptions, onboarding and contract processes were discussed in detail: „I could look over my colleagues“ shoulders, make some suggestions and even perform some tasks on my own,“ reports the young Swiss woman.
Staff from other departments also gave Rahel a glimpse of their daily work: „This was a very exciting and informative time for me because, thanks to the excellent support, I got a new look at many processes and workflows. I particularly appreciated the strong team spirit and dedication of each and every employee – whether you are in Switzerland or Austria, you can feel the SKIDATA spirit everywhere.“
Cultural differences cannot be ruled out
Even though at first glance Austria and Switzerland seem like they don“t have many differences, Rahel noticed many details which differentiate the Swiss and Austrians: from language differences – „Mahlzeit“ (for „bon appetit“) in Austria compared to „än Guetä“ in Switzerland – to how people greet each other or even traditional clothing. For Rahel, this was an exciting stay abroad with many unfamiliar elements.
