Stuttgart / Cannes, 10 March 2014 – APCOA PARKING Group has innovation taking centre stage in its presentation at MIPIM 2014 (Cannes, France, 11 – 14 March). Based on proprietary market research and its international know-how, Europe’s leading parking managers will present the very latest service products for the management of parking space.
APCOA PARKING Group is looking back at a successful year 2013, in which 92 locations were added to the group’s portfolio, lifting the total of its sites to 7,413 and tightening the grid of corporate locations. Standing out among last year’s highlights are new contracts and contract renewals in the airport parking services segment.
In Norway, APCOA succeeded in renewing a contract package encompassing 5 airports with AVINOR, the airport manager, who also commissioned the implementation of APCOA’s reservations system. In Denmark, APCOA renewed its contract with Billund airport, and in the UK and Italy, contracts were won with the airports Southampton and Verona.
Also in the city parking segment APCOA’s services gained acceptance in 2013. In Stockholm, APCOA PARKING was entrusted both with the management of the greater part of the public parking space and the parking surveillance. New contracts with the Copenhagen Blue Planet Aquarium and two shopping centres in Warsaw and Katowice completed the success.
Technical innovation also gives APCOA the edge to drive corporate growth across all segments with the management of ungated parking space. This includes further development of the parking surveillance services „Park&Control“, which last year was introduced at about fifty locations only in Germany. „Park&Control“ offers property owners and real estate managers the opportunity to turn idle parking capacities to parking assets by using ticket machines.
Cost-cutting: automatically controlling parking permits
APCOA PARKING continues in its European lead position in the hospital parking segment, as reflected by successful tenders in Italy (4 sites), the United Kingdom and Poland in 2013.
A new system of automatic control of parking permits recently introduced in Denmark points to sizeable potentials for cost-cutting in this segment. At an ungated parking area in Danish Odense license plates of entering and departing vehicles are automatically captured. Drivers not in possession of a valid parking permit are being automatically registered at the exit, and will be subsequently billed by the system.
Customer bonding in parking garages with touchless access
APCOA PARKING continuously increases the comfort of access for drivers by providing touchless access in garages under its management. Together with co-operation partners from the automotive industry, APCOA grants drivers the possibility to access parking garages without buying a ticket.
For such cars the opening of the gate is effectuated by an RFID chip behind the windshield. No need to pay at the ticket machine anymore. The billing of the parking charge is done at the customer’s discretion by credit card or by direct debiting. The touchless-access solution is a very effective instrument for customer bonding.
Ralf Bender the chief executive officer of APCOA PARKING Group: „Our technical solutions, and new products based on forty years of international experience in parking management, represent a visible added value for our business partners and ourselves. They make us continuously advance on our growth path.“
