Chassis Instead of Hull!

Chassis Instead of Hull!

Chassis with a twin flange system for the individuel superstructure

A useful tip for water sport enthusiasts that value safety and performance: from January 18th to January 26th Ophardt-maritim are exhibiting a precision welded aluminium boat chassis at the Boot in Düsseldorf

Known as the OP-SHIPP Module (Series Hull Integrated Precision Platform), this modular unit affords shipyards and boat owners an automotive-style platform that can serve as a basis for quality aluminium vessels.

A Modular Cooperation

Different boat types are created on a single chassis and are distinguished through their unique superstructure modules. For these superstructure modules, any number of conventional construction materials can be used; whether that is GRP, wood or aluminium. For this reason the application of OP-SHIPP modules is nearly limitless as vessels such as motorboats, water taxis, business cruisers, party boats or emergency services can all be built upon one common chassis.

The highlight however, is the potential to swap out superstructure and interior modules as the application of a particular vessel changes. This means that the OP-SHIPP Module can stay with an individual owner indefinitely as it can be flexibly adapted to meet new and changing expectations. This sets a new standard in terms of sustainability and resource conservation.
Also significant is the fact that the OP-SHIPP Module is almost completely hidden from view yet is absolutely critical in terms of performance. As it has been developed to handle rough seas it offers extraordinary handling that exceeds the safety requirements of any serious boat owner.

Modular Boat Building

Ophardt-maritim is pursuing long-term successful partnerships with local and international boat builders in order to establish itself in this new market. For this reason we are committed to be available to you anytime and anywhere as a partner. Our modules are subject to continuous improvement, from the simplest components to the most highly integrated systems. All the product interfaces are well thought out and prepared for further processing.
Drawing inspiration from the automotive industry, the use of modular manufacturing allows us reduce overall production time down to a few months; and by implementing qualified and standardised parts a consistent level of quality is assured. The interior and exterior are easily integrated as independent modules and are customizable to the wishes of individual customers.

Ophardt R+D in Duisburg develop and produces OP-SHIPP Modules (Series Hull Integrated Precision Platform) made of sea-grade aluminium. This platform consists of an aluminium series hull that is available to be fully integrated with various other internal and external components and systems. The modular platform is supplied to shipyards worldwide as a fully-functional hull along with a connecting flange that allows for the easy integration of a customized superstructure. OP-SHIPP Modules 11909, 9909 and 7909 are available off-the-shelf at competitive prices. All models feature excellent safety and performance characteristics and are designed to meet the various applicable European standards.

The OP-SHIPP Module 11909 is intended to be used for the manufacture of an approximately 15m vessel. The base module is available for delivery starting at 119,000 Euro, including value-added tax.

The patented OP-SHIPP Module platform solution has already been recognized with two awards. Within the framework of the 2012 Aluminium tradeshow and for its detailed design solution the OP-SHIPP Module 11909 was presented the European Aluminium Award; while it was also awarded the prestigious „red dot award-honourable mention: Product-Design 2013“.

The Ophardt R + D GmbH & Co. KG was founded in January 2001 as the research and development centre of the OPHARDT Group in Issum. During the first five years, Ophardt R + D realized a number of projects concerning sanitary engineering, production automation and aluminium processing.

In September 2006, Ophardt R + D moved to Duisburg. Here the focus was shifted primarily to the development and manufacture of OP-SHIPP Modules (Series Hull Integrated Precision Platform) using sea-grade aluminium. Our family-run business is one of the most modern shipyards in the world.

The foundation of our sustainable development activities lies within intensive research and development work and vertical integration. We have high end manufacturing capabilities and are heavily invested in computer aided technologies. All parts are manufactured on CNC machines and assembled by welding, gluing, screwing and pressing operations.

Innovation and tradition

OPHARDT R + D shares the business philosophy of „Tradition and Innovation“ with the OPHARDT Group. We have also benefited from the experience of the OPHARDT Group with respect to aluminium processing and production technology, as the OPHARDT Group has manufactured aluminium products for over 50 years. The foundation for the success of the OPHARDT Group began in Issum in 1962. Founder and owner Hermann Ophardt developed the company into the leading manufacturer of high quality dispensing systems for hygiene control in the medical industry; this lead to developments for industrial and sanitary applications as well.
