Next Generation Solar Tracking – Optimized design increases efficiency for users – Greater yield, simpler installation, high performance, lower prices
Horb a.N., May 14, 2013. DEGER consolidates its position as the world“s leader for solar tracking: The company“s new generation of tracking systems combines numerous technical enhancements with a price level that is more than 20 percent lower than in the year before. The first product in this new generation is the DEGERtracker D100. The new systems are now immediately available in Europe.
DEGER invested approximately EUR 1.4 million into the development of its new system family. And it was worth the money. The new systems are faster and easier to assemble, provide for greater yield and are more inexpensive than their predecessor models.
Improved technology provides for greater yields
Among other things, the development engineers at DEGER increased the angle of elevation of the new tracker – which now ranges from 10° to 90° – while reprogramming the MLD sensor. In addition, as in the other new models, the D100 features a further developed version of the EK-6 energy converter. With these improvements the new generation of trackers achieves greater yields with less sunlight – for example, at sunup and sundown.
What is more, DEGER also simplified electrical installation: sensor technology and connecting cables in the new DEGERtracker are preassembled, cable routing and strain relief are already prepared. Thus wiring inside of the systems becomes superfluous, and possible sources of error during installation are largely eliminated. This reduces both costs and the amount of time required for installation. The new, easily comprehended assembly instructions provide the installer with additional support.
A geometry that is unique on the market makes the new tracking systems even more durable. Thus the swivel head in the new systems with both axles – azimuth and elevation – is integrated into a single component. In this manner DEGER achieves very balanced power distribution, eases the load on the bearings, motors and drive unit – thus clearly increasing the longevity of the complete system. In addition, this design saves on both costs and raw materials. DEGER has already applied for a patent for the new mechanism.
Clearly reduced price level
The new DEGERtracker D100 covers up to 70.6 square meters of module space and operates with all conventional modules. The rated output is between 8,000 and 12,000 watts peak (Wp), depending on the module type. The system is available with masts of between 4 and 8 meters in length. As before it is available with one-piece support frames or – another product innovation – with a detachable support frame that lowers freight charges.
Field tests conducted by the renowned Materials Testing Institute (MPA) at the University of Stuttgart verify the very high performance of the new systems. With their additional safety margins they withstand loads that exceed the standard limits specified by the manufacturer by up to fifty percent.
The prices for the new, greatly improved DEGER systems are more than 20 percent less than the prices for predecessor models from the spring of 2012. The new DEGERtracker D100 is immediately available in Europe, and in North America as of the middle of this year.

About DEGER (www.DEGER.biz):
DEGER is the leading manufacturer with the world“s largest product portfolio for single and dual axis solar tracking systems. Its market position is based on the unique, patented „Maximum Light Detection“ or MLD technology developed by Artur Deger. This technology makes it possible to increase the yield of solar power plants through the use of „intelligent“ control. In this case the MLD sensor constantly aligns the connected solar modules with the point in the sky that provides the greatest energy. Thus solar systems guided with MLD achieve a 45 percent greater yield on average than fixed systems – during peak periods this value is even considerably higher. With more than 50,000 systems installed in 51 countries, DEGER is world“s market and technology leader. The company offers every solution relevant to the product – from development and planning to production and sales, all the way through to maintenance and repair.
Nearly 400 employees currently work for DEGER at the company“s headquarters in Horb, its branch offices and suppliers. The company was founded in 1999 and in 2001 it was distinguished with the Baden-Württemberg Inventors Award for the MLD sensor. In 2005 DEGER opened its first branch office in Spain, in 2009 branch offices followed in the USA and Greece, and in summer 2011 production began in Australia. DEGER produces in Germany, Australia, Canada and in the USA. The company“s business is managed by Artur Deger.
You can“t always rely on the weather – but on an intelligent control system from DEGER for sure.
