The company´s mission is to increase awareness for Biological products, used as gifts and promotional items. During the next 10 years Taku Trends initiative program will help to increase the amount of certified fair-trade organic cotton grown in India.
What is Fairtrade?
The initiative should help to improve the lives and farmers. For this reason, the company works closely together with Fairtrade Cologne. This organization is a social movement and market-based approach that aimes to help producers in developing countries to make better trading conditions and promote sustainability. The movement advocates the payment to a higher price to exporters as well as higher social and environmental standards.
Consumers may think, when they are buying a cotton-bag, that they are paying for a natural and eco-friendly product. But what they possibly do not thing or know ist what dangers brings buying textiles made of contaminated with pesticides cotton. Pesticides are chemicals. They are manufactured with the target of inhibiting, repelling or killing the growth of pest.
The problem: the pesticides are dangerous not only for the pest species bus also for children. Very risky for human life. A T-Shirt for children can contain harmful chemical that can cause allergies, cancer, breathing problems and many disorders.
The World Health Organization determines the three most common pesticides as a group of insecticides that stands for the most dangerous to human health.
In total cotton represents 40% of the fibers used in the manufacture of textile likes apparel, towels and homewares.
The worldwide market for biological cotton is approximately less than 0,2 Percent.
Around 25 million tons of cottons fibres is the yearly worldwide production. Just less than 0,2 % of this production is bio-cotton. The largest producers of bio-cottons fibres are China, Turkey and India.

Who controls the biological standards?
The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) defines the world-wide recognized requirements that ensure organic status of textiles, from harvesting of the raw materials, through environmentally and socially responsible manufacturing up to labeling in order to provide assurance to the consumers. The International Working Group on Global Organic Textile Standard sets the requirements for the GOTS Standards.
Taku Trends wants to strengthening the trend towards environmentally friendly production methods. The promotion of natural biological cotton bags is way towards this target. Unlike plastic or paper materials, cotton can be massed produced with little or no ill effect towards the environment. The fact, that the bags are reusable, washable and last for years increases their value.
