Organic Digitial: Gmund and lakepaper at drupa 2012

Added Value for Customers through Traditional Craftsmanship and Modern Technologies

Gmund, April 18, 2012 – Traditional craftsmanship and futuristic (digital) technologies are by no means mutually contradictory in the paper industry. One of the strengths of Gmund is its ability to combine these two poles into a single innovative whole. The focus here is to provide benefits to customers and retail consumers.

drupa, the world´s largest print-media trade fair, will take place this year from May 3rd to 16th. Visitors who come to stand B35 in hall 7.1 will experience the added values offered by this successful mix of tradition, innovation and creativity in the themes of „Organic“, „Digital“, „Color“ and „White“. With „BLOCKER“, lakepaper is marketing a pure white and very fine paper that´s absolutely opaque starting at a weight as low as 100g/m2. Publishing houses, printers and agencies appreciate this innovative paper because texts or illustrations printed on the reverse side of pages in books, catalogues or brochures no longer shine through to the front side. This unprecedented breakthrough results from many years of accurately targeted research and development, combined with state-of-the-art technical achievements. White papers from Gmund are the ideal basis for clear business messages.

Gmund proudly shows its colors when it uses its „old“ paper machine, which dates from 1883, to produce colored papers today. Over 100 colored papers, each of which is dyed all the way through its pulp, are manufactured under the strictest quality control. Gmund expresses its creativity in embossments and other special effects, e.g. velvety, wooden or leathery looks. Collections such as „Gmund Bier Papier“, cheerfully polychrome „Gmund Colors“ or „THE KISS“ from lakepaper transform paper into a sensual experience.

Although this manufacturer concentrates on providing benefits for its customers, the production also prioritizes environmentally friendly methods that efficiently use valuable resources such as water and electricity.

Gmund´s papers for digital printing go hand in hand with the third dimension, the palpable „feel“ and the unparalleled individuality that make flat, smooth, run-of-the-mill papers look old-fashioned and obsolete. With so much creativity, innovation and quality, it´s not surprising that Gmund ranked Number One in a study, conducted by Focus Magazine in December 2011, to choose the best of the fine manufactories. Nor does it come as a surprise to learn that Gmund´s golden „Treasury“ paper was selected for a most glamorous event: this lavish paper was used to make the envelopes that contained the names of the winners of this year“s Oscars in Hollywood. Gmund´s new logo will likewise enjoy a brilliant premiere at drupa: Gmund´s brand-new CI design adds much more color to this paper mill´s world. As a prizewinning pacesetter, Gmund is pleased to welcome visitors to Düsseldorf and especially to drupa, which enjoys a first-rate reputation as an international meeting place for trendsetters in printed communication.
