A year rich in variety at SKIDATA

Stagnation? Unthinkable for SKIDATA, a leader in access solution innovations! This past year was full of surprises in many areas and the company convinced with its constant growth. Among other milestones, SKIDATA celebrated the opening of two new locations.

New subsidiaries in Dubai and Mexico, additional international growth in the US

Since its founding in 1977, SKIDATA has been characterized by its stable growth and has had an international focus from early on. International markets are better served with our branches and partner companies and customers benefit from faster support on-site. The proximity makes both the coordination with customers and service considerably easier. In 2016 the SKIDATA network grew with two new locations: Dubai and Mexico.

Business in the US was also marked with especially large growth in 2016. SKIDATA continues to pick up speed in the US through company acquisitions and the implementation of major projects, including equipping over 30 parking garages in San Francisco and ten parking garages with over 6,000 parking spaces in the city of Miami Beach.

2016’s major event: European Championship in France

When Europe’s soccer elite gather for an extra special tournament, SKIDATA is also a big player. A total of four European Championship stadiums in France used SKIDATA access solutions, allowing 630,000 fans to quickly and safely enter the stadiums through SKIDATA access systems. Operators of stadiums, convention centers and amusement parks around the world rely on access technology from SKIDATA and a variety of our installations can even be found on every continent.

Company initiatives encourage innovation

In keeping with our „Setting Trends“ corporate value, SKIDATA continuously introduces more initiatives that promote the company’s innovative spirit. The company recognized long ago that in order to produce innovations, it needs an innovation-promoting work environment with a certain amount of freedom. Events such as the three-day „Innovathon“ give employees the opportunity to concentrate 100% on creating new ideas.

Career fairs and exciting insights for IT rookies

In addition to numerous career fairs in which SKIDATA participated as both an employer and a training company, the company also provided the opportunity to take a look at the everyday work of staff at our headquarters in Grödig, Austria. As part of our Summer IT Weeks, IT juniors were treated to an exciting day with plenty of insights into the technology behind our innovative access solutions. Many young men and women used their summer vacation to learn more about careers, as well as professional and training opportunities in the IT sector.

More than 30 young people took the opportunity to gain practical experience in various SKIDATA departments in 2016. Ever more young women are completing internships with our innovative company – this year, nearly half of our interns were female and many of them worked in technical areas. Increasing the appeal of careers in technology for women is an important matter to SKIDATA. For this reason, the company regularly supports initiatives and events geared at getting more women into technology. Events such as our annual Girls‘ Day are a great opportunity for young women interested in technology to get to know more about various technical careers.

SKIDATA world wide: a look at SKIDATA India

This Austrian leader in innovation enjoys Bollywood-scale success

SKIDATA world wide: a look at SKIDATA India

Rechts: Amit Rana; Links: Nimish Sonawala

SKIDATA’s Indian success story began in 2007 with their cooperation with local partner Hinditron. Shortly thereafter, SKIDATA, a leading company in access and revenue management, won tenders for the airports in Bangalore and Hyderabad, the first privately operated airports in India. This formed the basis for the foundation of the joint venture between SKIDATA India and Hinditron in 2009. Nimish Sonawala, Hinditron Group’s Managing Director at the time, was appointed Managing Director for Skidata (India) Pvt. Ltd. in Mumbai.

In 2014 SKIDATA won the parking solution facilities tender for the Mumbai International Airport Terminal 2, the hub of the Indian financial and business world. Today SKIDATA’s customers in India include numerous large shopping centers and stadiums such as the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad and the Buddh International Circuit Formula One racetrack near New Delhi.

It’s not only successful bids for numerous projects that have given SKIDATA momentum in India, but also its own development center. In the same year with the opening of your development site in Bangalore a new important milestone was set.

SKIDATA Technologies Bangalore

Known as the Silicon Valley of the East, Bangalore is a dynamic market. Here you will find the largest software talent pool in India. Consequently, start-ups and blue chip companies from all over the world have established themselves in Bangalore. This also includes SKIDATA Technologies Bangalore, which started operations in 2014. With great enthusiasm, General Manager Amit Rana reports on his software development teams: „My teams are passionate about their work and take great pride in developing products. It is not always easy to assert yourself in the job market against all the big names, but what we lack in size we make up in passion and commitment.“ At SKIDATA Technologies Bangalore work very good developers that are designing the next generation cloud-based solutions using cutting edge technologies in the mobile and web space. It makes the team especially happy to see their SKIDATA solutions in use at different locations in India.
Developers who enjoy working in small focused teams on new technologies, while giving complete respect to work-life balance send their profile to SKIDATA by visiting http://www.skidata.com/en/career/open-positions/details-on-open-positions/detail/senior-software-engineer-fm.html

Close teamwork and regular exchange form the basis

International success is only possible when people of various nationalities cooperate and are open to cultural differences within the team. Intercultural cooperation works at SKIDATA: for example, software developers from Austria, France, India and the US collaborate together on new technologies in our R&D department. Although cooperating with others who are thousands of miles away is no problem these days, it is always special to get to know your colleagues in person. For this reason, when SKIDATA employees from India visited the company’s headquarters in Grödig near Salzburg in Austria during the early years, it was an exciting experience for everyone involved.

Work internationally and achieve success together – job vacancies and career opportunities at SKIDATA

If you have no fear of cultural diversity, a job at SKIDATA is perfect for you! Implement new ideas in our international development teams, experience the open corporate culture and work with reliable team players from all over the world. Our company offers employees all of this and much more.

SKIDATA worldwide: a look at SKIDATA´s Dutch subsidiary

General Manager Willem-Jan Balk has been involved since the beginning

SKIDATA worldwide: a look at SKIDATA´s Dutch subsidiary

SKIDATA worldwide: a look at SKIDATA´s Dutch subsidiary

For more than 20 years SKIDATA has had a branch in the Dutch city of Barendrecht near Rotterdam. Willem-Jan Balk began his career at SKIDATA as a project and sales manager and has been involved in this branch since its founding in 1993. For the past three years, he has been responsible for The Netherlands, Scandinavia, the UK and Ireland as General Manager and Area Manager for Northern Europe.

One thing that Willem-Jan finds especially exciting about working for SKIDATA in The Netherlands is the great openness to innovation you can find here. Early adopters particularly embrace internet-based solutions. The Dutch market is therefore very dynamic and highly competitive. So it is even more pleasing that, despite this competitiveness, SKIDATA has established itself as market leader for parking systems with a market share of more than 60%. As a result, the original team of five has become a remarkable team of approximately 55 employees.
In order to maintain high standards in the service area, service staff is distributed around the entire country and can quickly travel to our customers when needed. Plus, SKIDATA Support assists with questions and problems 24 hours a day.

Europe´s fourth-largest airport has relied on SKIDATA parking systems for years

Amsterdam´s Schiphol Airport has been a satisfied customer since 1993 and so the decision was again in SKIDATA´s favor when it came to renewing the parking system: in 2009 the Salzburg-based company delivered a new, innovative parking solution for the fourth-largest airport in Europe. A total of 40,000 parking spots are managed with the sophisticated system that sets new standards in customer service and other areas. Parking spot reservations, VIP parking and interfacing to customer loyalty systems are just some of the challenges that had to be addressed in the development of this large-scale project.

Working at SKIDATA – company values count around the world

When it comes to his colleagues, Willem-Jan most appreciates their enthusiasm and passion. Their great dedication and company values make an impact – meaning colleagues don´t only celebrate joint successes, but also get positive feedback from customers and build long-term customer relationships. „New employees at SKIDATA Holland should have two things – passion for working in a team and a winner´s mentality,“ concludes Willem-Jan Balk.

SKIDATA, an international leader for access management based in Austria, is always seeking qualified employees for service management. Current employees can also look forward to frequent international job opportunities far beyond Europe.

Meet the global player SKIDATA around the world

Brazilian branch opened – and celebrations in Salzburg

Meet the global player SKIDATA around the world

Meet the global player SKIDATA around the world

No matter where you take your summer vacation this year: a product from the Austrian specialists for access solutions and management, SKIDATA, can be found on every continent. It“s no wonder with nearly 10,000 installations in over 90 countries.

In Africa, for example, SKIDATA equipped the Highveld Mall, one of South Africa“s leading shopping centers, with an innovative parking solution in 2013. In 2014, a loyalty program for the Miami Dolphins was installed in the USA.
SKIDATA even has access solutions at work in Australia: the country“s largest theme park, Dreamworld near Brisbane, has used SKIDATA technology for access management since 2013. Japan“s Sugadaira Kogen ski resort uses SKIDATA hardware and software and many operators of ski resorts, sports stadiums, exhibition centers and airports in Europe rely on SKIDATA technology. After successful projects such as the equipping of a World Cup Stadium and the cable car on the Sugarloaf Mountain in Rio de Janeiro, SKIDATA enters the Brazilian market from within the country itself.

A successful start for the SKIDATA branch in Brazil

With the SKIDATA Brazil launch party on 18 June in Sao Paolo, we will be more strongly represented in South America in the future.
Numerous projects are already in the planning stages, meaning the number of SKIDATA installations in South America will rise. „Although SKIDATA has not been represented in the Brazilian market for long, there has been very positive resonance. With my small but wonderful team, we have been able to fulfil the needs of our first clients. We are continuing to grow and are always looking for staff to strengthen our team,“ reports Stefan Roda, General Manager SD Brazil.

Summer party at the SKIDATA headquarters

Once again this year many successful projects have been able to be implemented all over the world – just one reason to celebrate. The annual summer party celebration is one of the most popular staff events among the SKIDATA employees in Grödig near Salzburg in Austria. This time staff welcomed summer with a barbeque. If you“d like to celebrate summer party with us next year, take a look at http://www.skidata.com/en/career/open-positions.html for careers, job openings and vacancies in software development, hardware development and IT.

SKIDATA wishes you a great summer!

In summer the SKIDATA team shows its athletic side

Successful with team spirit: even outside of hardware development and software development

In summer the SKIDATA team shows its athletic side

In summer the SKIDATA team shows its athletic side

In June, one athletic highlight follows the next: the Champions League final in Berlin, the major FIFA women´s soccer event in Canada and the Grand Prix in Zeltweg are just a few major sporting events that will be causing a stir in the near future. Our staff´s many sporting successes large and small prove that it does not always have to be a major international sporting event to cause some excitement at SKIDATA.

Participation record at the 2015 Salzburg Business Run

Preparations are already underway for this year“s Salzburg Business Run in the fall – this year with 60 registered participants from SKIDATA´s workforce, more than ever before. At the Salzburg Business Triathlon on May 29, 2015 our team came in remarkable 76th place out of 180 teams. This is particularly noteworthy since the swimmer stood in for another colleague at short notice. Christoph Ritzberger from SKIDATA service management is always in on the action whether at races, triathlons or soccer competitions. „I really like that participation in company sporting events is supported and promoted by the company. At such events you can meet other colleagues from different departments and the team spirit is strengthened,“ says Christoph. Colleagues from Klagenfurt have also shown their athletic side and participated in the Carinthia Business Run.

Bike to work at the headquarters come rain or shine

Salzburg and its surroundings are well known for their perfectly constructed network of bike paths. So it´s no wonder that many SKIDATA employees commute to work on two wheels. The headquarters in Grödig near Salzburg are not only easily reached by bike, but also enjoy a quaint location at the foot of the Untersberg mountain. A mountain bike, however, is not necessary: the area surrounding Grödig is pleasantly flat. Again this year we are taking part in the „wer radelt gewinnt“ („those who bike win“) initiative carried out by Climate Alliance Salzburg. This promotion motivates employees to ride their bike to work. This helps protect the environment and at the same time makes an important contribution to participants´ health.

Ambition and team spirit: sought-after qualities not only in sports!

You don´t need to be a professional athlete to have a career at SKIDATA, but qualities such as team spirit and passion for the task at hand are in high demand in the application process. Those who wish to become part of the SKIDATA team can find an overview of all current job openings and job vacancies in various departments at http://www.skidata.com/en/career/open-positions.html

A Division Would Like to Introduce Itself: SKIDATA Service Management AUSTRIA

First-hand job insight

A Division Would Like to Introduce Itself: SKIDATA Service Management AUSTRIA

SKIDATA Service Management AUSTRIA

Michael has worked for SKIDATA since 2003 and as Operations Manager for Austria is responsible for a large team. He first learned about SKIDATA through a job vacancy in quality assurance – at that time, he was still an IT & systems management student at the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences and was not familiar with the company. He caught the SKIDATA spirit right away. In an interview, he explained which tasks Service Management at SKIDATA completes and what employees looking for a career in this field should have.

The goal: flawless operation of SKIDATA solutions

Service Management ensures the problem-free operation of SKIDATA solutions. The team takes care of hardware and software during the entire life cycle of the product from its installation on. Thanks to technical advancements, many questions can be answered remotely on the phone or by remote servicing. „Some of our technicians are also local in order to provide the shortest travel time possible to our customers and thus the fastest support possible. This means a service technician“s workplace is not always the headquarters in Grödig near Salzburg,“ says Michael.

Employees in Service Management happily take on challenges & responsibility

Those who take a position in Service Management in Austria can take responsibility right from the start: each and every service technician is responsible for his or her clients; for example, a ski resort. Flexibility, independence and close relationships with clients are important factors for success here. „An especially high focus on customer service and reliability for the customers characterizes my employees, and we join forces within the team, too,“ adds Michael. Success in a team, great customer relationships and many chances to change something, thereby achieving visible results, are what Michael appreciates the most.

Do you love taking on challenges? Are you ready for responsibility? Would you like to have constant contact with our customers and have solid technical skills? If so, perfect! Start your career in service management at SKIDATA!

New job offers and vacancies, including jobs in service management, are regularly posted at http://www.skidata.com/karriere/offene-stellen.html . There are also job opportunities in hardware development and software development as well as in IT.

Second Level Support: a Small Team with Big Responsibility

The IT specialists in second level support are responsible for many activities at SKIDATA: in addition to conducting field tests, they provide the newest versions of software and brief employees in the respective ski regions. A small group of support specialists, therefore, is in the position to take care of all ski systems around the world.

Gerald has been with SKIDATA since 1986 and has worked in support since 1996. He says about his tasks at SKIDATA: „In the past we also had the most innovative products on the market, but they were of course limited to the status of the technology back then. We constantly integrate the newest developments in electronics and information and network technology into our systems. And our customers profit from this, too: all updates and changes of all configurations are installed by us remotely – a huge convenience for our clients. Over the course of time, my responsibilities have become more complex but also more exciting.“
