Düsseldorf, November 05, 2018 – The Japanese technology company Asahi Kasei will present its technologies and solutions in the areas of sensor technology and premium audio at this year’s electronica, the renowned electronics trade fair in Munich. For the first time at a European trade fair, the electric concept vehicle „AKXY“ will also be present at the booth.

Asahi Kasei presents 36 innovative materials and solutions for the mobility of the future with its specially designed „rolling competence center“ AKXY. Thereby, the cross-divisional innovation approach of the company, which combines the business areas electronics, synthetic rubber, high-performance plastics and textiles, becomes evident. The second highlight at the fair is a „Premium Audio Lounge“, where visitors can experience Asahi Kasei’s premium audio solutions live on site.

Safety drives with you: Sensors for safe and comfortable driving
A special focus of the electronic components in the AKXY is on solutions that make driving safer and more comfortable. For example, the progressive CO2 sensor solution „Sensor Sunrise“, which ensures more concentrated and safer driving. It measures the carbon dioxide content in the car cabin and contributes to better air quality. Senseair Sunrise is produced by the Swedish subsidiary Senseair and is the world’s first optical solid-state NDIR sensor for measuring gases such as carbon dioxide. With an unsurpassed low power consumption – six times lower than that of comparable NDIR sensors – it can easily be integrated into battery-powered systems.

Undisturbed conversations in the car
Driving fast or the playing of music can considerably impair the conversation between driver and passengers. The consequences are inattentive driving and an increased risk for all road users. Asahi Kasei has developed a special solution for this: The digital signal processor (DSP) – as an in-car communication application – ensures safe and comfortable conversations in the car without the driver having to turn his head. With its Engine Sound Creator application, the DSP contributes to an improved driving experience and increased road safety by providing a realistic engine sound.

Solutions for autonomous driving
Intelligent driver assistance systems are experiencing tremendous market growth, with radar sensors playing an important role in the overall system architecture due to their unique capabilities. With the Transceiver IC, Asahi Kasei offers a standard component that increases the performance and precision of the radar sensor in object localization and contributes to improved discrimination accuracy between people and vehicles.

„Sensor island“ and „Premium Audio Lounge“
Asahi Kasei will be exhibiting its concept car in Hall B4 – Booth 516. Additionally, the company will show further sensor solutions on its „sensor island“. A highlight in addition to CO2 and 3D sensors is a newly developed presence sensor, which has very low energy consumption and does not require a lens at all. Further sensor solutions will be presented by Senseair in Hall B3 – Booth 441.

Asahi Kasei has been a premium supplier of D/A and A/D converters as well as digital signal processors (DSP) for high-class audio applications for 25 years. In a specially equipped „Premium Audio Bar“, visitors can convince themselves of the product quality on site. Registrations for a guided tour will be accepted at the booth.

Positionsmessechnik introduces the new MH120 draw wire sensor series for the demanding construction machinery and equipment sector. This exhibition highlight is presented at the SPS IPC Drives in hall 4A, booth 115 in the city of Nürnberg Germany.

The draw wire sensors are available in different designs, e.g. with open housing or open rope bridge for easy cleaning. Features like measurement ranges from 3.0 up to 10.0 m, a protection class up to IP69K, or a working temperature between -20 to 85°C (optional -40°C) display the versatility of the MH120 series. This mobile hydraulics series is an extremely robust and economical option for efficiently carrying out positioning tasks on construction machinery.

A Unique Sensor Concept for Weighing Containers

(Mynewsdesk) The countdown has started! Only a few weeks are left until the new version of the International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) takes effect on July 1, 2016. Among other things, it will require shippers whose names appear on the bill of lading to verify the gross mass of each container before removing it from the terminal.

The new magnetic fSENS MLS force sensor from Hirschmann MCS provides a new, innovative way to efficiently comply with the new requirement: weighing containers by indirectly measuring the force they apply to the twistlock during loading. This approach delivers many benefits and can be flexibly implemented no matter whether you use an RTG, RMG or STS crane, a reach stacker, or a straddle carrier.

Static or dynamic weighing takes only moments, and the system can be quickly and easily integrated into existing material-handling processes. It also eliminates the need to laboriously add up individual weights.

A New Approach to Measurement

For this solution, Hirschmann MCS relies on contactless magnetic measurement. The fSENS MLS is installed above the twistlock bush, surrounding the twistlock without actually touching it. The twistlock stretches when a load is applied, then contracts to its initial state when unloaded. The sensor generates a magnetic field that is altered by the stretching of the twistlock, and the sensor calculates the force by measuring this change. Weights can be accurately determined within a tolerance of less than one percent. The contactless measurement approach also reliably prevents zero drift when weighing heavier loads.

Benefits

The fSENS MLS is a very robust product with a long service life. Because the sensor itself is not directly subjected to any forces, it cannot be damaged, bent, or broken no matter how heavy the load is. Nor does it move when the twistlock is locked or unlocked. It is therefore impossible for constantly changing loads to wear it out or cause its failure, for instance by breaking a cable. It isn’t even necessary to remove the fSENS MLS in order to replace the twistlock.

The fSENS MLS boasts an IP67 protection rating and is resistant to saltwater. Its electromagnetic compatibility complies with the 2004/108/EC directive.

Easy Installation as Part of a Reliable System

For weighing containers, Hirschmann MCS integrates the fSENS MLS in a complete system comprising other TÜV-certified components. Its heart is a cSCALE controller that acts as a scale. Both the controller and the fSENS MLS have been certified by OIML (International Organization of Legal Metrology).

All it takes to install and use the system is a power source. Other modifications and additions, including a communication link to the terminal operating system, are also easy to implement. The fSENS MLS can be additionally used to measure overloads.

Port operators can gain a competitive edge by offering shippers in-port weighing facilities as an additional service. And they can only win with solutions from Hirschmann MCS. Frankfurt/Main, July 7, 2014: The 9th AIRTEC takes place from 28 – 30 October 2014 at the Exhibition Center Frankfurt, Germany. AIRTEC 2014 will be opened on 28 October by the Parliamentary State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Economics, Ms Brigitte Zypries.

During three days, up to 500 exhibitors from 30 nations representing the whole supply chain of the aerospace industry will be showing their products and services to an international specialised audience from 45 nations.
