Friedberg/Germany, 5 October 2018. The live demo of the award-winning VDCIS places Tichawa at the centre of its first appearance at glasstec 2018. At its booth D37 in Hall 12, the high-tech company from Friedberg, Germany, will present the high-precision CIS sensor for industrial quality control of glass, wood, plastic, metal and ceramic products as well as food and blister packaging. For the first time Ticahwa Vision presents also the VTCIS with integrated white balance for roll-to-roll print applications. glasstec will take place from 23 to 26 October 2018 at the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre.

glasstec is the most important trade fair for the glass industry. Companies from all over the world present their latest trends and innovative technologies in the field of glass processing. „The fair is the ideal platform to present our latest industrial scanners for the inspection of glass products to the trade audience and to show them live ,“ says Dr. Nikolaus Tichawa, Managing Director of Tichawa Vision GmbH. „The demands on the quality of glass products are increasing. Manufacturers therefore need reliable solutions for 100 percent inspection“. With the VDCIS and VTCIS, Tichawa presents two innovative CIS sensors for automatic quality control.

VDCIS: High-speed inspection with Depth of Field of 15mm
Visitors will have the opportunity to experience the Vision Systems Design Innovators Award Gold winning VDCIS live in action. Tichawa designed the VDCIS especially for the surface inspection of highly profiled objects as well as products made of glass, wood, metal, plastic and ceramics. Special features: The VDCIS enables a working distance of up to 60 millimetres from the test object to the sensor window. At the same time, it offers a depth of field of 15 millimeters. This enables the CIS sensor to look deep to the products. For example, it can inspect the imprint on glass bottles, cans and other curved surfaces.

Due to its slim and very compact design, the VDCIS can be quickly and easily installed in machines saving efforts, time and cost. The sensor is available with scan widths starting with 300 to 1,800 millimeters. The VDCIS with switchable resolution (250 to 1,000 dpi) is available in RGB and monochrome (black/white) illumination combinations.

VTCIS: Integrated white balance for roll-to-roll print applications
The VTCIS, is one of the market-leading camera systems for quality control in terms of compactness and scanning speed. Due to the outstanding line rate of up to 90 kHz and a scanning speed of up to 20 m/s, the VTCIS is particularly suitable for high-speed inspection processes. It is available with a scan width of 260 to 1960 millimeters. The VTCIS provides excellent sensor geometry with a wide range of illumination options. The sensors can switch resolution and illumination (monochrome/RGB) during operation. This allows a different viewing of parts of the same object with different resolutions and colors, even at high transport speeds and scanning distances.

Proven CIS technology

MAZeT GmbH, the development and manufacturing services provider for embedded systems and optoelectronics, has introduced the MTCS-INT-AB5 sensor board for the fully integrated MTCS-CDCAF sensor chip from the JENCOLOR® product line. MAZeT offers this sensor board as both an evaluation board for system and application tests and as part of a development kit. „MAZeT’s MTCS-INT-AB5 sensor board is another True Color sensor board based on JENCOLOR® filter technology,“ explains Frank Krumbein, Product Manager for Color and Spectral Sensoring at MAZeT. „The MTCS-INT-AB5 can be directly connected to a light source via optical technology. The color values measured over the sensor’s I²C interface in accordance with the CIE1931 standard are transmitted to corresponding electronics as input data for color management tasks.“ The board includes memory for saving calibration data and additional user data related to the application as well as an I2C interface. It works well as an evaluation system for the MTCS-CDCAF. Typical applications for the sensor board include measuring light colors for multispectral LED arrays and calibrating color on monitors. It can also be used for photometric applications.

DK MTCS-INT-AB5 Development Kit

The MTCS-INT-AB5 sensor board is also available as part of a development kit for system and application tests. The sensor board is mounted in housing and can be controlled via USB. It is easy to configure and calibrate the MTCS-INT-AB5 using PC supported test software. Control files on the PC level take over specifications for the sensor and sensor electronics. Once the development kit has successfully validated an application, the sensor electronics programming can be easily transferred to a microcontroller, and the sensor board from the test kit can be directly integrated into the device electronics via the I²C interface. MAZeT offers software libraries for initial tests as well as mapping. These software libraries contain routines for measurements and color management. MAZeT can adjust basic software in keeping with user requirements regarding used light sources and various target parameters such as light color, brightness, energy consumption, CRI, and much more. MAZeT also offers preliminary simulations for feasibility analyses, and can perform these in a way that supports development.

Showing their latest products, innovative solutions and sensor electronic designs. The main focus for the show is demonstrating applications related to intelligent light control and customized medical electronics.

Achieving homogenous light output values using LEDs and electronics of different manufacturers can be a challenging task, especially for dynamic control options. Traditionally, purchasing very narrow and limited LED binnings have been a costly solution to this problem. In projects these restrictions tend to be very expensive as and limitations in availability and storage options make this solution hard to reproduce in the future projects. Achieving future savings by changing the selected LEDs or manufacturer then can be a hard task to perform – since LEDs alter in color and brightness due to process technology, phosphor, aging process or even temperature shifts during operation. The subsequent replacement of defective fixtures in larger LED light installations may also lead to unforeseeable problems, regarding quality and conformity of the light output, even when using high quality LEDs.

With the RBGW Cube MAZeT shows a Spotlight demonstrator, which uses LEDs from different manufacturers generating equal light output values. Via actively observing the light output with JENCOLOR® sensors and dynamically controlling the drivers, the system can be monitored regarding lifetime, light output and color conformity. Allowing an unparalleled flexibility even when using dynamic color cycling, daylight control or CCT dimming. The sensors are based on inorganic material and are stable over time and temperature allowing to compensate the varied problems of LED technology and allowing long-term stable applications.

The RGBW Cubes are connected via Dust SmartMesh technology from Linear Technologies and are equipped with LEDs from different LED manufacturers. MAZeT shows how easily the JENCOLOR® sensors enable a homogenous synchronization of all RGBW Cubes regarding brightness, CCT and color values.

MAZeT GmbH, developer and manufacturing services provider for embedded systems and optoelectronics, introduces the wireless control of LEDs from a smartphone or tablet. „A LED-based RGBx light box demonstrates vividly how the smartphone or tablet accurately controls the color, color temperature and brightness,“ explained Frank Krumbein, Product Manager for Color- and Spectral Sensor Technology at MAZeT. Depending on the wireless connection, several light boxes can thus be managed simultaneously. This means they can all display a specific color mix from the RGBW palette or also conjure up a scenario of different colors.“ No color differences in the same color on all light boxes are discernible to the human eye. There are also no differences when the operating conditions change or LEDs of different types or bins are used. A True Color sensor from the JENCOLOR® series ensures a constant color scheme. Current wireless transmission technology and Android-based operating software complement this. MAZeT offers the electronics and control systems for luminaire manufacturers and system integrators as series-manufactured OEM modules.

Permanent color consistency over all light sources

For the sensor-based color control for multi-channel LEDs, each lighting unit receives its target value from your smartphone via Bluetooth. The sensor measures the current LED-light and transmits the color value to the microcontroller of the box. The micro-controller compares the current value with the value of the target and calculates the new LED driver signals. This process is so quick that visually it is imperceptible. The color adjustment appears to be completely flicker-free. So with just a tap on the color triangle on your tablet or smartphone, all the light units display exactly the same under the same light or run synchronously in the scenario. Color uniformity is thus guaranteed across all units and within a unit for its lifetime. The system consists of simple standard components that are not especially focused on stability. Only the sensor in the system controller possesses the stability to endure without drift for the lifetime of the unit. The „closed-loop“ with the sensor perceives all disruptions in the lighting system that affect the color or brightness as quasi-independent factors. Drifts of the LEDs and of the driver, mechanical tolerances of the optics and of the mechanics are perceived as spectral shifts of the light and are adjusted according to the target color. Jena (Germany) July 3, 2012 – On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the company MAZeT GmbH – Development and manufacturing service provider for embedded systems and optoelectronic solutions from Jena, Germany – presents their new Corporate Design. Dr. Fred Gruntert, CEO of the company mentioned: „MAZeT celebrates their 20th anniversary since the company foundation“, he added „We can look back at a successful company history and have defined ambitious groth targets for the future. This was the reason for us to fundamentally update our company profile and appearance. We present us as a modern and especially customer-oriented service provider. „The redesign of the company logo is a logical step in a number of measures towards increasing service quality, the expansion of quality management programs to meet the requirements of DIN EN ISO 13485 for medical devices and the project oriented company organization in general. With the new logo and matching Corporate Design – presented online (www.mazet.de), during trade shows and via print media – MAZeT wants to demonstrate their increasing market performance.

The alignment of the new logo, the design of the characters and the clear message stating the business objective signalize strength and trust to the customers. The modern and yet timeless appearance of the lettering embodies innovation and long-term stability. The modified and still lowercase symbolized „e“ stands for electronic – the core business of MAZeT. Blue remains the primary color of MAZeT’s appearance, since blue is the color of the sky, of infinity and the desire to seek out new horizons. This element accompanied MAZeT for the past years, since the foundation and has been a necessary requirement in designing a successful future.

20 years MAZeT

In 1992, MAZeT GmbH was set up as an engineering consultancy for electronic design services in Erfurt with one business branch in Jena. The first years of company history were marked by the gathering of special know-how in industrial applications and medical devices. Consistent growth in sales over all of the company’s operating years and a consequential extension of its workforce testify to the company’s successful history. Since the foundation of the company many things have happened, changed and developed.

Some employees have followed the entire path and story of the combination of „Mikroeletronik“ and of Carl Zeiss Jena towards the company foundation of MAZeT. MAZeT Positively Assesses Its Organizational Structure Orientation on Project Work

MAZeT – development and production service provider for embedded computing solutions and optoelectronics located in the city of Jena – has achieved a positive overall result with its reorganization its project work structure. „Just six months after introducing a structure oriented on project work we have seen that the new structure is better suited for our processes,“ Dr. Fred Grunert, Managing Director of MAZeT GmbH, stated. „We are visibly increasing both our efficiency in project work and our service quality for customers.“ MAZeT introduced the new orientation in the organization of its development engineers effective April 1, 2011.

A newly created project office, which is subordinate to the sales department, supports the work of project managers and results in more efficient handling of the standard tasks of project management. The new steering committee meets weekly. It directs current projects in a very efficient manner. The excellent preparation that is made in the steering committee meetings by the project manager and the inclusion of all employees that take part in decision-making are decisive factors for the increase in efficiency.

The team of the appointed project managers and the other employees involved in project management attended a 10-day training course for project managers at the Gera Chamber of Industry and Commerce. The course concluded with a final exam and the awarding of certificates. All participants achieved the training course objective with good or excellent grades.

Following a successful 2010, MAZeT – development and production service provider for embedded computing solutions and optoelectronics located in the city of Jena – has been able to increase its number of received orders, sales and revenue in 2011. The MAZeT Executive Board expects that 2011 will be the most successful year in the 20-year history of the company. The positive trend in orders received resulted in a quicker-than-expected return to the level of 2007/2008 at MAZeT in 2011 and will probably surpass that level by the end of the current year. The concentration on customized embedded computing solutions in the market segments of industrial electronics and medical electronics, as well as wide-ranging development expertise in ASIC development all the way to embedded computing modules, distinguishes MAZeT as an EMS provider with core competences in development and production logistics.

The growing demand for components and services in the area of color and spectral sensor technology has been assessed positively.
