Jena, November 13, 2017 – A long-term study on the treatment of anal fistulas conducted on 117 patients with an average follow-up period of 25.4 months (overall study duration of 6-60 months) confirms a primary success rate of 64.1% from initial therapy using FiLaC®. The secondary cure rate (a second smaller procedure) was as high as 85.5%. Thus, the minimally invasive laser therapy FiLaC® is the modern, sphincter-sparing first-line treatment option for anal fistulas. Laser therapy can also be used for coccygeal fistulas.

In the FiLaC® therapy from the medical technology firm biolitec®, a flexible, radially emitting FiLaC® fiber is placed precisely at the internal orifice using a pilot beam, and the energy is emitted over the course of the fistular track. The efficient irradiation concept of the FiLac® fiber optimally uses the applied energy to close the fistular track. The treatment was performed using either a CERALAS® or a LEONARDO® DUAL 45 diode laser from the biolitec biomedical technology GmbH. This type of laser delivers energy with a wavelength of 1470 nm and an optimal absorption curve in water, which has the result of efficient local tissue shrinkage and protein denaturation. All areas of the surrounding musculature remain maximally preserved. Incontinence is generally avoided.

The study was published on March 7, 2017 by A. Wihelm et. al. It was conducted between October 2009 and July 2014 at the Cologne Rectal and Pelvic Floor Center (EBZ) on a treatment group of 117 patients with an anal fistula who were treated with the FiLaC® method. The objective of the study was the observation and evaluation of the treatment method of laser ablation over a long-term period. The FiLaC® procedure combines the objectives of successful fistula treatment, that is, clinical efficacy plus preservation of continence function.

A selection of the findings from the study:
-No case of incontinence of liquid stool occurred.
-The primary cure rate was 75/117 overall (64.1%); for cryptoglandular anal fistulas, it was 63.5%, and for fistulas secondary to Crohn“s disease, it was 69.2%.
-Of the 42 patients in whom FiLaC® did not work, 31 underwent a further operation (fistulectomy with sphincter muscle reconstruction or fistulectomy).
-The secondary cure rate (healing of the fistula at the end of the study period) was 103/117 overall (85.5%); for cryptoglandular anal fistulas it was 85.5%, and for fistulas secondary to Crohn“s disease, it was 92.3%.
-A significantly higher primary success rate was demonstrated for intersphincteric fistulas, with primary and secondary success-independent of age, sex, Crohn“s disease, number of previous operations, or the type of coverage using a skin flap.

Am 28.Juli feierte die Tamala-Clown-Akademie das 20.jährige Bestehen ihrer internationalen Sommerakademie Clown-Theater-Comedy. Aus Anlass dieses Bestehen und des 30.jährigen Jubiläums der Akademie konnte die Leitung der Akademie die beiden weltbesten Clowns David Shiner (cirque du soleil) und Olivier Taquin (Roncalli) für Seminare im Rahmen der Sommerakademie nach Konstanz holen. Sie proben und spielen gerade in einem gemeinsamen Programm am Brodway in New York. Auf Grund der Sommerpause konnten beide direkt nach Konstanz kommen.

Zum 20 Mal öffnet das Internationale Zentrum für Clown, Humor und Kommunikation in Konstanz vom 28.7.-4.8. seine Pforten für die Weltelite der Clowns und Comedians.
In vier verschiedenen Studios der Clownschule ( http://www.tamala-center.de )
unterrichten und zeigen die Stars der Internationalen Clownszene ihr mimisches, körperliches und clowneskes Handwerkzeug. Knapp 100 Seminarteilnehmer aus ganz Europa – von Irland bis Mallorca-, aber auch aus Übersee (Japan, USA, Nepal) nehmen an den Kursen teilnehmen: von der Hausfrau über den Starschauspieler der Berliner Volksbühne bis hin zum Filmstar aus Italien und zum Topmanager einer Schweizer Großbank, vom Anfänger bis zum Profi wollen sich in die Welt der Clowns und Comedians entführen lassen.

Die Stars der 20.Sommerakademie in Konstanz sind:
David Shiner (USA/Kanda) – Mitbegründer des Cirque du soleil und Starclown bei Roncalli
Olivier Taquin – (USA/Frankreich) – Starclown beim Zirkus Roncalli und Gewinner des Zirkus Award in Monaco und New York mit seinem Programm „Le Ferestaquin“
Beide unterrichten auch weltweit in den Circus-Schulen in San Franzisko, Budapest, Paris und Olivier ist zudem Professor für Visuelle Kunst in Den Haag (NL). David Shiner ist Trainer, Custer und Regisseur für mehrere Produktionen des Cirque du soleil.
Die Leitung der Akademie geben auch zwei Studios zur Einführung in die Schauspielmethode der Akademie und für professionelle Clowns, Filmschauspieler und Theaterschauspieler in die Arbeitsweise der amerikanische „Method Acting“, nach der in den USA Komiker und Filmschauspieler ausgebildet werden. Jenny Karpawitz und Udo Berenbrinker sind seit zwei Wochen in das weltweit tätige Dozententeam der Steinbeis-Universitäten und der Theaterhochschule Neuseeland/Australien gewählt worden. Es entsteht ein weltweit anerkannter Bachelor-Studiengang Medicinal Clown, Die Grundausbildung zum Gesundheit!Clown ist eine der anerkannten Studiengänge, so dass Tamala Credit points vergeben darf. Die genaue Anzahl wird Mitte Juli durch Prüfung durch Prof.Dr.hc.hc. Petcher von der Universität Neuseeland in Konstanz vorgenommen. Damit hat Konstanz eine neue akademische Anerkennung.

Die Seminare bei der Leitung sind gleichzeitig Casting-und Infoseminare für eine der vier Ausbildungsgänge an der Tamala Clown Akademie.

LumaSense Technologies, Inc. adds the specialized IN 6/78-L to their IMPAC pyrometer portfolio for use in the production of thin and thinnest glass sheets ( http://www.lumasenseinc.com/EN/products/infrared-thermometers-and-switches/series-6/pyrometer-impac-in-6-78-l.html ). The IN 6/78-L uses a 7.8 µm (micrometre) wavelength for temperature measurements between 400 °C and 1100 °C allowing for accurate and reliable measurement on glass with thickness below 1 mm.

This instrument sets new standards for stress-free glass production on manufacturing lines around the world. The sensor design is based on a full digital core for a wide temperature range and high accuracy. The small form factor and robust design allows for easy integration into the process, even in harsh environments. The IN 6/78-L is equipped with specially designed and coated high-end optics to reduce the effect of ambient reflectance and guarantee the best possible accuracy. The RS485-to-USB connection allows to connect the pyrometer to a PC and adjust the pyrometer parameters using the included InfraWin software. The software also provides temperature indication, data logging, and analysis features. When used in combination with the InfraWin software, the IN 6/78-L paints a more-accurate picture for identifying potential issues before they lead to problems that impact process performance.

Ballerup (Denmark), October 11, 2012 – LumaSense Technologies, Inc. has released the new Innova 1314i Series for industrial manufacturers to continuously monitor and improve process efficiencies. The measurement system of the Innova 1314i is based on the photoacoustic infrared (IR) detection method capable to measure almost any gas that absorbs infrared light. LumaSense’s new gas analyzer can be used in a wide range of applications such as photoacoustic spectroscopy for monitoring gases and vapors (IR-based spectrometer), process quality control measurements to trace impurities in pure gas production, occupational health and safety measurements of possible production or accumulation of toxic/carcinogenic substances in working areas, monitoring of ethanol content in vehicle exhausts, monitoring of NH3 and N2O and others, or emission monitoring of exhausts from chemical processes, NH3 in stacks, scrubber efficiency and filter break-through.

For sequentially monitoring air samples from up to 24 different locations, Innova 1314i is expandable with one or more Innova 1309 Multipoint Sampler using the 7860 LumaSoft™ Gas software for multi-point gas monitoring. In addition to the new interfaces, an OPC server (included within the 7860 LumaSoft™) offers easy access to the latest gas measurement on any PC. The instrument requires no consumables, very little regular maintenance and minimum calibration. Excellent gas selectivity without interference from water vapor and other gases is achieved through the use of optical filters. The 1314i provides detections limits typically in the ppb range without any interference from temperature and pressure fluctuations. High reliability of measurement results is ensured by regular, automatic self-tests.

Over the past 25 years, photoacoustic gas measurement technology has been widely used by industrial and chemical manufacturers, environmental regulators, and researchers to optimize efficiency by high precision measurements. Santa Clara, California, March 14, 2012 – LumaSense Technologies, Inc. has introduced a new line of highly configurable thermal imaging cameras specifically designed for use in harsh environments ( http://www.lumasenseinc.com/EN/products/thermal-imagers-detectors-and-cores/stationary-thermal-imagers/stationary-thermal-imagers.html ). The MC320 line for infrared thermography features uniquely configured optics and detectors that enable the cameras to be tuned to specific infrared wavelengths and optimal performance to best suit a particular application. The majority of industrial thermal IR cameras on the market are long wave cameras operating in the 7-14 micron wavelengths, which are best suited to applications with lower temperatures and in environment without interference. Mid-wave cameras operating in the 3-7 micron spectrum are particularly effective for seeing through interference such as flames and also perform well when measuring the temperature of highly reflective materials such as glass and plastics, but historically have used exotic and expensive detector materials.

The new thermal imager platform MC320 for non-contact temperature measurement supports the widest range of mid-wave VOx based cameras available on the market today applying application specific wavelengths and temperature ranges. Each stationary thermal imager model is tuned to perform in the most demanding industrial applications providing the best sensitivity and thermal image quality (thermovision) available in this price range measuring on metal and ceramics, on non-metal surfaces, through flames and hot gases, and glass surfaces with typical applications in monitoring vessels and furnaces, rolling processes, rotary kilns, and quality monitoring in glass production.
