Innovations „Made in Germany“

Starting with the foundation of the company in 1991, tde has been demonstrating the innovative capabilities of its portfolio: In 2014, the network expert introduced investment-protecting and highly flexible cabling systems for quick and easy migration up to 100 G, including the tML Xtended System and the revolutionary tML 24 System. With the tML 24 System, the packing density of the connection technology was significantly increased and the cable volume notably reduced. Network technicians now only need to install half as many cables and connectors compared to previous solutions. The packing density is unique for migration up to 40/100 GbE: Since 96 MPO ports can be realized in one height unit, up to 2304 fibres can be used when fully equipping the tML 24 System.

Through many years of success and via countless reference projects, the system solution tBL – tde Basic Link has proved its worth for traditional network cabling, as have the modular and semi-modular Plug-and-Play cabling platforms tML – tde Modular Link and tSML – tde Semi Modular Link.

Systematic Quality Management for High Quality Standards

Descriptive product images and clear navigation help users to quickly find the requested categories and solutions. During configuration, tde attached particular importance to establishing a seamless link between the online catalogue and tde“s own shop: Thanks to the integrated testing system, products can be accurately and plausibly configured and directly ordered here. In this way, the modern website is intuitive to use ranging from first information right through to the ordering process, and is designed for high-quality service. At the same time, tde also updated the company logo.

With redesigning and updating the website, tde offers its customers an online platform tailored to their particular needs: The clearly structured website focuses on tde“s extensive product range. From the homepage visitors can reach the the six product areas on the subpages with only one click. The well-structured arrangement featuring high-quality images helps users to quickly and easily find their requested articles. Dortmund/Germany, 20 October 2015. tde has expanded its successful tML system: With the new tML breakout module, the chassis of the switches and routers can be used more efficiently, with an increased number of ports and a higher packing density. Instead of line-cards with four or ten SFP transceivers, network technicians can now install line-cards for 40 or 100G transceivers. In combination with the tML breakout module, the incoming data rate can be split into 4 x 10G or 10 x 10G, enabling a fourfold or even tenfold increase. tde is the only manufacturer to use MPO connectors that are integrated at the front instead of traditional rear-mounted MPO connectors. The connectors can be quickly tethered directly from the front and enable structured patching. The tML breakout module is suited for installation in a tML Rack Mount Enclosure with one height unit und works in conjunction with the tML HD patch cable.

„The current trend regarding 40 or 100G transceivers is towards using them also for breakout applications and no longer exclusively for direct connection with the corresponding data rate,“ Andre Engel, CEO at tde, explains. By way of breakout modules, the breakout application splits 40G into 4 x 10G and 100G in 10 x 10G. The cost-intensive switches and routers can thus be used more efficiently as they offer an increased amount of ports and accordingly an increased packing density. Instead of line-cards with four or ten 10G transceivers, line cards with 40G or 100G transceivers with MPO can now be installed in the chassis: „Since this practice has already established itself for multi-mode and single-mode applications, we offer different breakout modules for our patented and modular tML platform,“ Andre Engel says.

tde offers its customers the following three key configurations:

-four LC Duplex with 10G on a 12 fibre MPO connector with 40G
-eight LC Duplex with 10G on two 12 fibre MPO connectors with 40G
-ten LC Duplex with 10G on a 24-fibre MPO connector with 100G

All modules are available in single and multi-mode versions; the latter are available as OM3 and OM4 modules.

Easy handling – highest packing density
Whereas traditional tML modules feature rear MPO connectors, tde has now integrated the MPO connectors into the front panel. This allows for a quick connection with patch cables directly from the front. „Instead of fan-out cables, where MPO and LC Duplex have the same origin and are thus limited, the front-mounted breakout panel patched with MPO offers a significantly larger port number needing little space,“ Andre Engel emphasises and continues: „This is industry-unique and highlights our pioneering role as leader in multi-fibre technology.“

tde has developed the tML breakout module for easy handling: It can only be patched from the patch panel front and thus supports structured and clear cabling. Since the tML Rack Mount Enclosures can be equipped according to application and need the breakout module offers highest packing density and efficiency. Fibre optic and copper modules can be combined. In this way, tde offers its customers the best possibilities for migration to higher data rates. Additionally, the solution is a safe investment since the components can be gradually upgraded and are reusable. „The tML breakout module makes our tML platform well-equipped for the future; it continues to be competitive also in the long run,“ Andre Engel is pleased to say.

In this way, the network specialist offers an industry-wide unique range of configuration possibilities. When placing their orders users can already choose from a wide range of products for their individual configuration of fibre-optic patch and trunk cables as well as splice boxes and breakout boxes with a variety of mountings. An integrated intelligent test system guarantees web users to configure feasible and correct applications only. After configuring the application users can immediately place their order, which is then transferred to tde“s inventory and control system. Since time-consuming queries no longer arise and customer needs can be processed more efficiently tde is able to deliver the order within 24 hours. Customers can now individually create and directly order a variety of configurations in tde „s web shop. tde has enhanced the usability of its B-to-B web shop and expanded it with the configurators for customised fibre-optic patch and trunk cables as well as fibre-optic splice enclosures. This enormously increases the product range without tde having to store the articles. As a special feature customers do not have to leave the system to place their order and receive a feasible and correct configuration including the data sheet. The result is a high standard of quality throughout the entire process from placing the order to the finished product.

Correct configurations in three steps
When designing the web shop and the configurators tde attached great importance to intuitive usability and professional support: In only three easy steps customers can specifically and correctly configure fibre optic cables. The customer first chooses the cable and then the connectors before deciding on extras such as pulling socks or labels. Based on the selected parameters the choice of cable types or connectors is automatically reduced so that feasible configurations are guaranteed.

This principle is also used for the fibre-optic splice enclosure configurator for splice boxes and breakout boxes with different mountings; all common fibre-optic connector types ranging from ST to E2000 connectors can be used. For the configuration customers first choose the enclosure from the drop-down menu followed by the mounting according to the criteria fibre type, fibre optic adapter type and pigtails. Lastly, customers can decide whether they want their application prepared ready to splice or equipped with a crimp splice protection. For a better understanding a matching picture of each component illustrates every step.

Intelligent test system included
To avoid mistakes and queries and to be able to react efficiently to customers“ needs tde has integrated an intelligent test system for feasible and correct configurations. With its new tML 24-System tde – trans data elektronik GmbH revolutionises migration to higher transmission rates from 1GbE to 100 GbE or more: the network expert has equipped the trunk cables and modules of its registered and legally protected modular tML cabling system with MPO 24 fibre connectors. In this way, the entire rear cabling is based on the 24 fibre connector, which has two rows of twelve fibres each and thus offers twice as many fibres compared to the structurally identical MPO 12 fibre connector. To ensure easy migration tde provides different modules for high investment protection and the greatest possible flexibility. The tML 24 allows the use of consistently and uniformly allocated components on both sides of the tde modular link system for all transmission rates. Network technicians no longer have to be concerned about the cable allocation.

MPO 24 fibre connector – core of the new tML 24-System

The core of the new tML 24-System is the MPO 24 fibre connector: the network expert has equipped the trunk cables and modules of its registered and legally protected modular tML cabling system with this connector so that the entire rear cabling is based on it. The new MPO 24 fibre connector is structurally identical to the so far used MPO 12 fibre connector, but has two rows of twelve fibres each. In this way it ensures a more compact performance within the smallest space. Since the tML rack system remains unchanged the tML 24 modules can also be combined with tML standard modules. „Our tML standard, the recently presented tML-Xtended and the latest tML 24-System makes us the sole supplier to offer our customers an investment safe and highly flexible cabling system for all application scenarios“, Andre Engel is pleased to announce. „Migration to higher transmission rates has never been easier.“

For transmission rates from 1GbE to 10 GbE the tde module provides 12 LC duplex connections at the front and one MPO 24 fibre connector at the back. When it comes to migration to 40 GbE the network expert relies on so-called dark fibre modules, which include the normally unused fibre optics: these modules have 12x MPO 40 GbE ports at the front and 4x MPO 24 fibre ports at the back. In this way, 12x 40 GbE can be realised with 96 fibres whereby no fibre remains unused. If customers require the migration to 100 GbE or more tde replaces the modules with partial front panels with MPO adapters. In this way, the same trunk cables can be used for all transmission rates.

Reduced cable volumes and highest packing density

With the new tML 24-System data centres can considerably reduce their cable volumes because network technicians only have to install half the amount of cables and connectors compared to previous solutions. The packing density is unique for migration to 40/100 GbE: Since 96 MPO ports can be realised in one height unit up to 2304 fibres can be used when fully equipping the tML 24-System. „We guarantee that the performance of the MPO 24-connector is as high as the MPO 12 fibre connector“, Andre Engel explains. „In this way, there are no problems with the insertion loss budget regardless of the transfer rate.“
The tML modules can also be combined with TP RJ45 modules within one module rack for 1 GbE or also 10 GbE. With only few management ports height units no longer have to be used entirely. Additionally, tde also offers tML 24 modules for single mode fibres. Since this is a generic cabling system tde supports further technologies for high-speed transfer in addition to Ethernet with Fibre Channel and Infiniband.

Dortmund, Germany, 1 October 2014. tde – trans data elektronik, pioneer in the field of multi-mode fibre optic technology, now offers the successful tML – tde modular link cable system in the expanded version tML-Xtended. The patented system is equipped with a new fibre optic module which ensures the extremely easy and fast migration to 40 and 100 GbE. The special feature: before and after the migration the network technician can work with identical components and patch cables on both sides. This facilitates the stockage and also the handling of the network. Thoughts about polarity are no longer necessary.

Migration made easy

„With our new tML-X module we meet the demands of our customers to facilitate migration to higher transmission rates“, Andre Engel, CEO of tde, says. So far, users had to work with the familiar normed module polarity methods A, B and C with different modules or patch cables. In practice, this resulted in an extremely complicated handling prone to errors. „This is where the tML-X module comes in with its new innovative polarity. The result is an equal polarity of the modules and patch cables on both sides – even after the migration to 40 or 100 GbE. The customer no longer has to think about polarity“, Engel adds.

Fibre optic module for high transmission rates

The tML-X module is based on the tML-HD module. It has 12x LC duplex connectors at the front and 2x MPO/MTP connectors with 12 fibres each at the back. The 12x LC duplex connectors are arranged in two mirrored rows with 6x LC duplex connectors each. The tML fibre optic cables MPO/MTP are used with type B polarity. The polarity in the module corresponds to the method B according to EIA/TIA 568.C. tde has now integrated both different polarities in one module for an easier handling. The type B polarity of the trunk cables later ensures the easy migration to 40/100GbE.

„We have achieved the desired crossing of the fibres by installing the module turned by 180 degrees on one side and by swapping both MPO connectors at the back. Since one fibre each has to run from the sender to the receiver of the transceivers, a crossing of the fibres is always achieved in the fibre optic link“, Andre Engel explains. „The tML-Xtended once again adds a further unique characteristic to our successful tML cable system. There is no other comparable product on the market. The packing density of 96x LC duplex ports on one height unit is unrivalled“, Engel continues.

The tML – tde modular link system

tML is a patented modular cabling system consisting of the three main components module, trunk cable and module rack. The system components are a 100% made, pre-assembled and tested in Germany. They ensure a plug-and-play installation on site – especially in data centres but also in industrial environments – within a very short time. The core of the system is the MPO/MTP and telco connector at the back, which can connect at least six ports with 10 GbE or GbE performance all at once. Fibre optic and TP modules are available which can be used together in one module rack with a very high port density.

Especially for the migration to 40 and 100 Gigabit Ethernet tde – trans data elektronik GmbH expands their comprehensive range of high quality MPO applications: both the patch cables and trunk cables feature 12 or 24 fibre MPO/MTP plug connectors on each side and various fan-out applications are available for high-speed transmission in existing installations. As leading expert in multi-fibre technology tde produces customised applications and extensively consults customers regarding configuration, determination of length or assignment of cabling solutions. tde’s portfolio holds the suitable fibre optic connection cables for all renowned equipment producers. tde’s own platforms tML and tSML already offer a migration option for 40/100GbE via fibre optics by default.

tde – trans data elektronik’s expanded portfolio of MPO applications for the migration to 40/100 Gigabit Ethernet offers customers investment security as well as a flexible migration path to the next generation network. Patch cable and trunk cable applications with 12 or 24 MPO/MTP plug connectors on both sides are available. There are fan-out cables for the conversion of existing installations, which can be user-specifically customised. Several conversion options are available for customers such as from 12 fibre MPOs to a 24 fibre MPO, from 12 fibre MPOs to four LC duplex connectors or from 24 fibre MPOs to ten LC duplex connectors. Instead of LC duplex all common plug connectors such as E2000 are also possible.

We pay attention to their requests and requirements regarding configuration, determination of length or assignment before developing suitable solutions,“ says Andre Engel and he further explains: „It is important to consider decisive aspects in advance such as assignment, male or female, length restrictions and attenuation budget. Naturally, we also offer the suitable connection for all renowned equipment providers.“

tde’s multi-mode MPO/MTP connectors offer outstanding performance with a typical insertion loss of 0.1 dB and a return loss of more than 35 dB. All tde connectors feature the tde logo. The cable dividers of the fan-out applications are characteristically very small and light-weighted. In general, the cables used feature optimised bending characteristics as well as a slim and round design. This makes them highly flexible and allows for a very small bending radius at the installation.

For their own modular and semi-modular plug-and-play cabling systems tML and tSML tde offers a migration option for 40/100 GbE via fibre optics by default. In connection with the innovative tML® Dark Fibre modules even those fibres can be utilised for data transmission which are normally unused. At the same time tde system platforms also offer the highest packing density.
