Dortmund/Germany, June 13th 2018. tde – trans data elektronik GmbH has completely revised its successful fibre optic cable configurator. With visual support for the targeted, flawless configuration of fibre optic cables, the online tool is now even more intuitive and easy to use. The network expert has integrated high-resolution photos of all connectors for this purpose. To enable customers to make quick and individual configurations, tde has also simplified the user guidance. A selection bar shows the progress of the configuration process and allows customers to make changes and adjustments at any time. The new fibre optic cable configurator is now available at http://www.tde.de/konfigurator/lwl-kabel/.

With the newly designed tde cable configurator, plausible and flawless fibre optic patch and trunk cables can be configured in just a few steps. Customers first select the desired application from the areas of patching, indoor or outdoor installation and mobile cables at http://www.tde.de/konfigurator/lwl-kabel/. In a second step, the fibre type with the number of fibres can be determined. The network expert has marked the OM classes according to the officially standardized colour. Since the parameter selection tool automatically provides a manageable and limited selection of cables or connectors, only plausible configurations can be created. Users can then configure connectors A and B.

As a new feature, tde has added the option to visually select connectors: The network expert has integrated high-resolution images and a mouse over with detailed information. „This visualization is unique in the industry and underlines our high quality and innovation standards,“ says Andre Engel, Managing Director of tde. „Up to now, customers have not always been able to clearly distinguish between connectors. With visual support, we make it easier for them to create reliable configurations. Since the tool enables a unique variety of different configurations and these have been checked for plausibility throughout, our customers are given individual patch and trunk cable options. We will continue to work on further improving the usability of our online tool while at the same time offering maximum reliability in configuration.“

Therefore, the network expert plans to replace the photos with 3-D animations shortly: „We will integrate a function for scaling the graphics and in addition animate them. This allows users to view the connectors from all sides – this is unique,“ Engel continues.
After selecting the desired connector, customers determine the individual equipment such as length, cable pulling socks, labelling and design. The latter offers customers a choice of standard or tde premium versions. The standard version corresponds to grade C for insertion and return loss and the premium version corresponds to grade B. In both cases, tde offers better values than those specified in the standard.

Since the online tool displays all configuration steps in a selection bar, customers can make changes and adjustments at any time. Once the configuration is complete, customers can add their configured items to the watch list by specifying the number of items and send them to the tde sales office as an enquiry. With the article number created automatically in the system, the network expert reacts very quickly thanks to his German production and can deliver the fibre optic applications within 24 hours upon request. In addition, customers can download data sheets with detailed information on connectors, cables, fibres and fan out units.

FO configurator by tde: the perfect patch and trunk cable configuration in three steps

FO configurator by tde: the perfect patch and trunk cable configuration in three steps

tde now offers user-friendly online tool for configuration of fibre optic cables

Dortmund, 13 August 2014. With the new fibre optics configurator tde – trans data elektronik GmbH now offers customers and interested persons a web-based online tool for a precise and flawless configuration request of FO applications. In three steps all customer specific variants of patch and trunk cable configurations can be quickly and easily developed in two quality levels with this programme, which is practical and easy to handle. Unlike the competition, the configurator by tde additionally includes the multi-fibre technology MPO/MTP. The integrated validity check guarantees viable configurations. The requests for the configured FO applications are immediately sent to tde’s internal sales department. This process avoids impractical further questions and requests can be processed more efficiently. The FO configurator, which is currently unique on the market regarding its scope, processing and service, is now available at www.tde.de/konfigurator.

tde now simplifies the configuration of patch and trunk cables for their customers: at www.tde.de/konfigurator the network expert provides an intuitive web-based online tool, which precisely and flawlessly configures fibre optic cables in three easy steps. For this purpose, interested people first chose the cable, then the connector and finally extras such as cable pulling socks or labelling. With each chosen parameter a reduced choice of cable types or connectors is automatically indicated in the next step so that plausible configurations are guaranteed.

„With our new fibre optic configurator we meet our customers‘ demand for a simple and secure configuration,“ Andre Engel, CEO of tde says. „The online tool is intuitive and ensures the highest reliability for users. At the same time, it makes it easier for us to process requests and we can respond even faster and more specific to the demands of our customers. In this way, we once again emphasise our high quality standards – in all areas.“

In addition to the configuration the system automatically and instantly develops an item number and the corresponding data sheet, which explains all parameters for connectors, cables, fibres and distributors in a detailed way. Customers can add their configured items to a watch-list indicating the quantity and can directly send it to tde’s internal sales service. Since customers already request the items with their numbers the internal sales service can react even faster. Also time-consuming enquiries are no longer necessary, because the fibre optic configuration only allows plausible configurations.

The tde fibre optic configurator is based on a central SQL database, which contains the data of all items and provides the content for the tde website, data sheets and catalogues. Thanks to its cross media publishing system tde can optimise the maintenance of the content since it only has to be administered once. At the same time the database is connected to the SAP ERP system, which allows tde to react faster to customer demands and better adjust their production to recent enquiries.

Further configurators for splice boxes or the copper cable assembly are already in the planning.

tde – trans data elektronik GmbH is an internationally successful company, which has specialised in the development and manufacture of scalable cabling systems for highest packing density for more than 20 years. Amongst others, the European Organization for Nuclear Research CERN relies on the competence and know-how of tdeꞌs technology-leadership in the multi-fiber-technology. The product range „Made in Germany“ includes system solutions focused on Plug&Play for various fields such as Datacom, Telecom, Industry and Defence. As a full-system provider tde offers the entire range of services from planning to installation from one source and supports the Code of Conduct for energy efficiency in data centers, an initiative of the European Commission.
