„CRY“-Top Innovation of the Year

Prestigious Award for Gunold“s Innovative Thread CRY

"CRY"-Top Innovation of the Year

Gunold’s Innovative Thread CRY – the ideal thread for sparkling and glittering effects! (Source: Gunold)

According to the high-level jury of the ISPO TEXTRENDS, Munich, the fall/winter season of 2018/19 will be a season of sparkle and glitter and the jury selected the innovative thread CRY from GUNOLD as one of the top innovations for this year“s presentation at the ISPO show, which takes place from 5-8 February 2017. The special feature of this thread innovation is retro-reflection caused by thousands of microscopically small glass beads

Glass beads and thread? Until recently this combination seemed technically unthinkable and indeed the realization is truly a masterpiece! Marketing Manager Stephan Gunold is particularly enthusiastic about the latest product of the company’s extensive range of threads: „We are absolutely convinced of CRY. It is extremely innovative and allows for completely new optics on textiles, offering exactly what companies are currently looking for most: a novelty to attract and impress their customers.“

Magic Word Reflection
CRY has a polyamide core that is covered with a polymer coating to bind the reflective glass microbeads to the thread and that is the snag: The microscopically small glass beads need to be set in such a way that the appearance is as homogeneous as possible and that they do not fall off during regular wear and tear. And of course it goes without saying that the thread must be perfectly suited for embroidering and sewing.
Not an easy thing to achieve, therefore innumerable embroidery, and sewing tests needed to be passed before Gunold greenlighted CRY. „We offer a range of high-quality threads and must be sure that these keep what they promise“, Stephan Gunold assures.
For CRY the promise to keep is high quality combined with retro-reflection.“ Retro-reflection occurs when a reflective material returns the impinging radiation to the direction of
the radiation source, largely independent of the direction of the reflector. This is particularly recognizable in the dark. CRY is visible from a distance when used in appliques, decorative seams or large-scale embroideries. It not only provides protection to the wearer, but also creates fascinating sparkling effects in the dark.

CRY is made of 100 % polyamide and is available in silver and two different strengths which correspond to a size 12 (250 micron) and size 30 (200 micron). GUNOLD recommends the thicker thread (250 micron) for sewing and weaving and the somewhat thinner thread (200 micron) for embroidering. CRY is certified according to the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 and is suitable for use with high-visibility clothing (DIN EN 471) according to ISO 20471 2013 but certification is only possible on the basis of finished goods.
CRY is available on mini-king cones of 500m, 10 cones to a box.

Whether embroidery motifs, scripts, logos, labels on knitwear, the use of CRY ensures safety and puts fashionable accents on socks and caps, on sports- and workwear.
The ideal thread for sparkling and glittering effects! There are no limits to your creativity.

ISPO Textrends – Cry will be a part of it!
To see for yourself, visit the presentation of CRY from 5-8 February 2017 in Hall C3 at the ISPO TEXTRENDS / ISPO Munich or at the PVA from the 7- 9 February, 2017 in Paris at the Gunold booth, Hall 4 B26.
Experience the extraordinary features of CRY! Appliques, decorative seams or embroidery designs created with CRY result in fascinating sparkling effects and trade show visitors will be truly amazed! For more information visit www.gunold.de

Fall/winter season 2017/18

Be inspired! New ideas for attractive textile surfaces

Fall/winter season 2017/18

The metallic thread METY play a major role and surprise with new geometric shapes

GUNOLD GmbH presents new and unprecedented new colors and structures at the PVA in Paris in hall 4 at booth B26 from September 13-15, 2016. For the fall/winter season 2017/18 ideas are inspired by nature or seem to be rather technical in structure, a touch of luxury included. The great diversity of innovative threads developed by the German thread specialist has truly reached a new dimension

Discover a variety of organic shapes inspired by nature bearing a resemblance to stones minerals, sea plants or wood. GUNOLD uses matt threads such as wool-like FILAINE and cotton thread COTTY together with the metallic threads from the METY collection adding accents rich in contrast. Novel, seemingly tech-inspired effects, fascinate thanks to innovative three-dimensionality. Here the viscose thread SULKY, the shiny foil thread GLITTER and the metallic thread METY play a major role and surprise with new geometric shapes. Imperfection, random constructions and irregular shapes add a touch of luxury and present a new way of showing the multifaceted variety of high-quality threads from GUNOLD. Viscose, cotton, polyester as well as metallic threads are all being used and are sometimes enhanced or framed by the luxury threads POLYMET and FILAMET

„We are looking very much forward to this year“s fall edition of the PVA“, Head of Marketing Stephan Gunold remarks. He and his team are well prepared for this important fair in Paris. „We really did go all out to create new ideas for thread variations.“ For the first time these presented at the PVA to inspire designers to create new unusual surface designs for the fall season of 2017/18, and last but not least to highlight a new perceived value of textiles. For this GUNOLD will bring along the following thread novelties:

FILAMET / POLYMET
Gunold offers the two thread innovations FILAMET and POLYMET for customers under the motto „Create your own color scheme“. Designers may select one color each from the color cards of the wool-like thread FILAINE with its 129 different shades and from the metallic thread METY with its 38 different shades to create their very special individual thread. – FILAMET – The same is true for the polyester thread POLY with its 300 different shades and METY. – POLYMET. Thus there are almost no limits to the variety of combinations.

COTTY
This pure cotton thread impresses with its matt structure and is always the right choice if, for example, a typical „handmade“ look is desired
Since cotton is in high demand for the current fashion trend „back to nature“, GUNOLD now offers additional 64 new trend colors, which are available in strengths 30 and 12 together with a new special color card.

CRY
For the first time GUNOLD presents CRY, an innovative reflective thread that consists of a polyamide core encased by thousands of microscopic glass beads. Retro-reflection is the magic word. Retro-reflection occurs when a reflective material returns the impinging radiation to the direction of the radiation source, largely independent of the direction of the reflector. Reflective appliques , seams and embroidery designs are visible from afar and not only serve the protection of the wearer , but also produce fascinating effects in the dark

More Embroidery Thread News

The successful foil thread GLITTER (a polyester / polyethylene blend ), which comes in shades of gold , silver , red, blue , green and multicolor is now available in a 6000m make-up and thus considerably cheaper. GLITTER allows fascinating shiny effects for impressive embroidery and breaks light like a hologram – ideal for large-scale designs in the clothing and accessories.
The metallic thread METY (a metal coated polyester/polyamid thread) adds shimmering effects in glamorous gold and silver tones to any project. 30 coloured shades also ensure colorful diversity-. It adds a stylish touch to everything, from clothing to home textiles or precious accessories.
The trendy wool-like thread FILAINE is the expert for rustic embroideries with that
typical needlework look and despite its fine woolen structure FILAINE is extremely robust during processing and particularly convincing through high tear and rub resistance

Embroideries – The (Secret) Star
Demand for embroidery supplies continues to grow

This year“s TV TecStyle Vision 2014, in Stuttgart, once again lived up to the high expectations placed on this show. The trade show was part of the EXPO 4.0, a trade show association of 4 different shows for textile decoration and promotion, which took place at the Fairground Stuttgart. And by now it has proofed to be a must for all experts of this trade! Gunold GmbH, a leading global provider for high-quality embroidery materials, based in Stockstadt/M, was more than pleased with the show and was able to welcome a lot of new customers at the booth.

Predominantly from Germany, Austria and Switzerland these new customers were particularly interested in the latest additions to the product ranges of embroidery threads, embroidery backings, specialty fabrics, accessories as well as the respective embroidery solutions. Stephan Gunold, Head of Marketing, explains: „Combining our range of products with expert advice and know-how of how to work with these products we have definitely hit the mark with a lot of our customers. For more than 10 years now, we successfully conduct seminars and workshops in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In addition we publish practical know-how and assistance available in easy to understand and constantly updated embroidery pattern books.“ The goal is to encourage customers to more variety in embroidery and to inspire them to a high quality of the embroidery result.

A lot of activity on all four island demo-stations

As expected, the new laser cutter FB 500 from CadCam Technology, England was in the center of attention. As their German agent, GUNOLD presented the very compact laser cutting and engraving machine and since this type of laser is characterized by its high speed accuracy and stunning production quality it is especially attractive for small businesses as well.
Equally in the center of interest was the demo-station „Diditizing“.Massimo Baezzato from Constitch, the popular instructor for GUNOLD seminars and workshops, introduced a new concept for digitizing and was available for expert advice and for all questions regarding embroidery digitizing with Wings.
And it goes without saying that the two other demo-stations for embroidery threads and embroidery backings proofed to be central contact points as well. Stephan Gunold states: „The inviting open design of the booth certainly played a major role in attracting interested trade show visitors and we not only increased the number of people visiting our booth but we were again able to almost double the amount of new customers in comparison to the previous show two years ago. Particularly well received was our new range of pre-cut backings since this is a considerable relief in the everyday business of our customers. In addition our new range of seminars for 2014 was met with great interest and the fact that many customers now own multi-head embroidery machines, also make us feel very optimistic about the future.“

The Highlights of the TecStyle Vision 2014 at a Glance

FELTY – new in the range of specialty fabrics, FELTY is a premium felt that can be easily laser-cut and engraved. It is available in 18 different colors.

STIFFY-pre-cut backings – saving time, waste and off-cuts at last. On popular demand by its customers, Gunold now offers pre-cut backings. The most popular backings STIFFY 1650, STIFFY 2040 and STIFFY 1640B are available in foil packs of 250 sheets each, in white, size 20cmx20cm. Additional varieties are available upon request with a minimum order of 20,000 sheets.

TOOL KIT 2 – after the successful introduction of TOOL KIT 1, the handy case with scissors, pincers and seam ripper, Gunold now launches TOOL KIT 2, an additional clever set for embroidery pros with a sharp surgeon’s knife and a thread hook to easily remove thread snarls in the needle plate. Thread snarls are rare but can be a serious problem when forming a bird“s nest underneath the garment. Sometimes it seems almost impossible to untangle these thread snarls without causing damage to the work piece. Now TOOL KIT 2 comes in handy: use the knife to sever the threads, then carefully remove any thread residues underneath the needle plate by guiding the hook between needle plate and bobbin thread case.

STICKPROTECT – this very soft, stretchy fusible gauze is now available in black. STICK-PROTECT is ironed to the wrong fabric side to completely cover the finished embroidery design thus preventing irritating of the skin. Since STICKPROTECT is now available in black and white it can be used for both, dark and bright fabric colors alike.

About Laser Technology

Laser is short for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. The main components of a laser are the laser active, light amplifying medium, an optical resonator, and a source of energy (flashlight). Laser-cutting is a modern processing method to work on similar work pieces as in classic mechanical processing. At the beginning of the twentieth century, Albert Einstein had already researched the functionality of lasers. The theoretical basic details of a laser machine had been worked out at that time as well. However, only during the „70s this knowledge was put to practical use. The first laser devices for material processing were launched. Today the British company CadCam Technology is a leading supplier for laser cutter and laser engraving machines. GUNOLD acts as their general agent for Germany, Austria and Switzerland. For more information, please visit www.gunold.de and www.cct-uk.com

TV TecSytle Vision 2014: Gunold presents new products

TV TecSytle Vision 2014: Gunold presents new products

GUNOLD booth TV TecStyle Visions

Embroidery and Laser Technology – A Perfect Symbiosis: Gunold presents numerous new products for embroidery pros. With almost 90 years of experience in the embroidery industry, GUNOLD, GmbH is one of the leading suppliers for embroidery materials and accessories. And for more than 10 years now, seminars, workshops and a great number of additional services, like laser cutting have been part of Guno

Sales Manager Kajo Bauer remarks: „As the German agent for CadCam Technology, England we are happy to present the FB 500, a very compact laser cutting and engraving machine. This type of laser is characterized by its high speed accuracy and stunning production quality. The combination of versatility, performance and the ability to process a variety of materials as well as its compact dimensions, make it especially attractive for small businesses. „
On all three days of the trade show, there will be hands-on demonstrations on the laser, showing how easy and fast it can be to laser-cut or engrave appliqués. On the three additional product information counters of the Gunold booth, embroidery will be the main focus. At the 65 sqm booth, which is designed to be open on all four sides, visitors are invited to explore island demo-stations on software for punching, on embroidery threads and ironing, on embroidery backings, foils and fabrics

„As always expectations are high for the 2014 edition of the show in Stuttgart, thus we will present our comprehensive range of embroidery threads, embroidery backings, specialty fabrics and accessories“, mentions Stephan Gunold, Head of Marketing. „The TecStyle Vision is our most important trade show this year and it goes without saying that we will bring along several interesting new products. In 2014 our main focus are topics like „Stunning Creative Ideas for Embroidery Designs“ as well as „Quality Improvement of the Finished Embroidery Design“. One of Gunold“s utmost concern is to demonstrate how easy it can be to achieve a higher quality of the embroidery design. And everybody knows that digitizing plays a major role in this respect. At the demo-station „Digitizing“, Massimo Baezzato from Constitch, the popular instructor for GUNOLD seminars and workshops, is going to introduce a new concept for digitizing and he will be available for expert advice and for all questions regarding embroidery digitizing with Wings and digitizing seminars.

At the other remaining demo-stations, trade show visitors may take a closer look at suggestions for better handling of embroidery supplies and they may inspect Gunold“s comprehensive product range including all trade show novelties. Furthermore, the new seminar schedule for the 1st half of 2014 will be introduced.

Trade Show Product News at a Glance

FELTY – new in the range of specialty fabrics, Felty is a premium felt that can be easily laser-cut and engraved. It is available in 18 different colors.

Pre-cut Backings – saving time, waste and off-cuts at last.

Sometimes it seems almost impossible to untangle these thread snarls without causing damage to your work piece.

Modamont: Inspiring New Surface Designs!

Modamont: Inspiring New Surface Designs!

GUNOLD display as a part of the Modamont showcase

GUNOLD was right on target: Embroidery ideas convinced trade show visitors at Modamont. This year“s fall edition of the Modamont show that took place in September 2013 at the Parc d’Expositions, Paris Nord Villepinte, was an outstanding success all along the line for Gunold.

This year“s fall edition of the Modamont show that took place from 17-19 September 2013 at the Parc d’Expositions, Paris Nord Villepinte, was an outstanding success all along the line for Gunold. „The high number of international visitors offered a unique opportunity to welcome many potential and new customers to our booth and to inspire them with our products“, Stephan Gunold, responsible for marketing, is happy to mention. The glittering, shining and sparkling special embroidery threads, in particular, aroused the interest of designers and buyers

More than 26,000 trade visitors and over 10,000 trade visitors on the second day alone, proved impressively the importance of the Modamont show. The international importance of this show is steadily growing according to show management, with more than 65% of foreign visitors this fall and this confirms GUNOLD“s impression of the show. According to trade fair data, primarily visitors from the EU (Germany, Great Britain, and The Netherlands) as well as from Turkey, the United States and Asia visited the show. „It was evident that buyers and designers focused even more than last year on the extraordinary, the exceptional. Our very creative summer and winter tree design inspired many to approach us“, Stephan Gunold mentioned. Furthermore, the GUNOLD display as a part of the Modamont showcase at the entrance of hall 4 sparked a vivid interest of trade show visitors in new ideas for surface designs who then felt intrigued to visit the booth.

In addition to the creative seasonal tree designs, GUNOLD presented new design books showing lots of new ideas and techniques for surface designs as well as new pattern books with conceptual designs. „Remarkable was the interest in the ideas that we presented in connection with our special embroidery threads“, Stephan Gunold states. These include: the metallic embroidery threads Mety and Glitter, the premium silk thread Silk, the loud-colored polyester embroidery thread Poly Neon, the luminous embroidery threads Solar, Fluor, Glowy, as well as the shaded colors (ombré) and multicolored shades of the SULKY color card , that were spontaneously ordered for patterning. The designers also showed their enthusiasm for the acrylic thread Filaine with that woolen, hand-made character, which is now available in 129 different colors.

The Fashionable Product Highlights at a Glance

The metallic embroidery thread METY comes in 30 coloured shades and 8 silver and golden shades now for fantastic embroideries in gleaming colours – adding a stylish touch to everything, from clothing to home textiles or precious accessories! Made of polyester/polyamide with a metal coating

The untwisted thread surface of the foil thread Glitter refracts the light adding brilliance to any embroidery design. Ideal for large-scale designs – in fashion or accessory industry. Made of polyester/polyethylene.

The premium silk embroidery thread Silk has all the features silk is known for -smooth and classy, not forgetting the cool luxurious feel silk is known for. It is the first-class solution for embroideries on exclusive fabrics and extravagant clothing – ranging from evening wear to luxury lingerie right to cashmere shawls.

The loud-colored polyester embroidery thread POLY in neon colors. POLY 40 is an extremely durable polyester thread. Incredibly tear-resistant and colorfast to chlorine, it is the ideal solution for embroideries on work wear, jeans or caps. And the new selection of neon colors leaves nothing to be desired!

The luminous embroidery threads Solar, Fluor, Glowy. The initially „white“ Solar changes color when hit by ultraviolet (sun)light. The fluorescent embroidery threads Fluor und Glowy both glow in the dark. All three embroidery threads are made of 100% polyester.

The shaded colors (ombré) and multicolored shades of the Sulky color card. Altogether Gunold offers 55 ombre/multicolor shades within the Sulky range of products. Sulky is made of 100% branded premium viscose and has gained a top rank in the list of the most acclaimed embroidery threads worldwide – thanks to its silky smooth shine and flawless, even coloring, not to forget its high non-fade properties and color fastness. And nature benefits as well: the manufacturing process of SULKY embroidery thread is extremely environmentally friendly and contributes to conserving natural resources!

Acrylic embroidery thread Filaine with a woolen feel. Filaine is the expert for rustic embroideries with that typical needlework look. Despite its fine woolen structure FILAINE is extremely robust during processing and particularly convincing through high tear and rub resistance.

And last but not least the following products completed the range of products presented at the Gunold booth: Stickprotect, now available in black, which prevents that embroideries on soft, fine materials will irritate your skin, as well as the Tool Kit with tweezers, screwdriver, seam ripper and the pocket needle-point Oil Pen which is great for that tiny part of your embroidery machine that needs to be oiled. Again the possibility to get every page of the design sample books as a .pdf document by email was very well received. For more information about the featured products, please visit: www.gunold.de

The idea is to demonstrate creative tradeshow visitors how a preliminary design draft can be turned into a fashionable surface design: the steps that are needed, the many possibilities that are available, the many different methods in terms of realization that exist and last but not least, how the choice of different embroidery supplies will affect the look of your embroidery. „We intend to inspire fashion designers once again for embroidery while demonstrating how exciting embroidery can be. And the best possible way to do this is by presenting the many different creative design options all with the help of our embroidery materials“, Stephan Gunold explains. Fabric embellishment is a key factor in fashion. That is why for the Paris show, we will bring along many different ideas for creative surface design techniques. That includes fabric printing, decorative seams, laser engraving etc. „All of our ideas can be realized in a very doable way – a distinguishing criteria that GUNOLD is very well known for and proud of“.

GUNOLD GmbH, a worldwide leader in the embroidery supplies industry for over 80 years now, is one of the exhibitors at the Texprocess 2013 in Frankfurt. At this international trade fair for processing textile and flexible materials which takes place from June 10 to June 13, 2013, GUNOLD will present its broad range of embroidery threads, embroidery stabilisers, speciality materials and auxiliary materials for the embroidery industry. Stephan Gunold, Head of Marketing, states: We have great expectations for this show in Frankfurt. At the first Texprocess two years ago, we were extremely busy on all 4 days of the trade show. The show far exceeded our expectations and of course we hope the same will be true for this year“s show.“

At any rate, the long-established company, based in Stockstadt Germany, is well prepared. At the 56 sqm booth, which is designed to be open on all four sides, visitors are invited to explore four island demo-stations on software for punching, on embroidery applications, on embroidery threads and on embroidery backings, foils and fabrics. A further highlight will be the demonstrations at the single head embroidery machine Fortron (Stickmaschinen.de). Massimo Baezzato from Constitch will be available for expert advice and for all questions regarding embroidery digitising with Wings and punching seminars. He and Daniela Hutter from Emtrain have been popular instructors for the GUNOLD workshops and seminars for quite a few years now. At all the other demo-stations trade show visitors will get the chance to meet the experts from GUNOLD and can expect numerous new ideas, suggestions and expert advice on how to work with the wide range of embroidery supplies. Last but not least, the new seminar schedule for the 2nd half of 2013 will be introduced.

Just to mention a few product highlights: additional new colours of FILAINE 12, the embroidery thread for rustic embroideries with that typical needlework look; Stickprotect, the fusible protective gauze even for thin, soft to the touch fabrics to prevent irritations of the skin, is now available in black and every embroidery backing from GUNOLD is now also available on smaller rolls.

„In addition there will be further outstanding products to complete our range of embroidery supplies, Stephan Gunold points out. „It is our goal for the Texprocess to reach all of our current customers but we would also like to address a new clientele. This is quite possible since Techtextil takes place at the same time. Of course, we will be very happy if embroidery prevails in the high-tech segment of technical textiles as well.“
