Lately the demand for QR codes on grave stones has increased significantly. Many customers want to add a QR code to the grave stone subsequently. No problem for the vacuum blast machine Tornado ACS. It is operated with negative instead of high pressure. This patented principle is a combined unit of a powerful suction unit, a jet hood and a jet intake. For a QR code of the size 20 x 20 cm takes about 30 minutes on site.

The 3 Jewish cemeteries in Berlin are using it already. At the entrance, a QR code is engraved in each place (Quick Response Code). The square, black and white pattern is scanned with a smartphone camera and in this case leads to a memorial site on the Internet.
Two Berlin stonemasons already offer QR codes on grave stones. Here, the stonemason creates the QR code by a template. The relatives of the deceased are themselves responsible for the content, the stonemason is only engraving.

The cemetery administrations of most federal states have no objections, only with a few exceptions. In Cologne QR codes were planned to be banned before. Opponents argue, that the content of the linked pages is uncontrollable – in contrary to classical grave creation with flower and candles. But the liberalization on cemeteries can be stopped anymore. The advantages of a digital cemetery are on hand. By this QR codes mourning and commemoration are digitally upgraded.

For the creation of QR codes different possibilities are there. These can be hand-carved, routed or blasted. Effective and fast is only possible with the patented vacuum-blast method of systeco. That way, QR codes, but also graphics and photos can be applied in the workshop or directly in the cemetery on the stone. Even the smallest details can be blasted in amazing depth.

First, the desired QR code must be generated on a PC, that way a reflective sheet is created. This is normally glued on to the granite surface. Afterwards the jet hood is placed on the worked on surface and the suction unit is started. Due to the reached negative pressure, the jet hood adheres to the surface. The blasting agent is sucked through the jet lance on the surface and gets there with about 400 km / h. The suction takes the blast media right back in. Blast media and debris are separated by a cyclone principle. That way no dust develops, you work environmentally friendly and the blast media must not be collected or swept afterwards. With the vacuum blast method you work in a closed cycle. The granulate can be reused up to a 100 times.

For blasting only a 230 V connection is required – not more. The work can be done by anyone. Special skills are not required. It is operated with negative instead of high pressure. This by patent law protected principle is a combined unit of a powerful suction unit, a jet hood and blast media absorption. For blasting only a power supply of 230V is required.

The blast equipment is build up in a few minutes and ready to work. Because it is works without high pressure, water and chemicals in a closed cycle, the costly disposal of polluted detergents doesn´t apply. Debris and granules are absorbed again directly from the blast equipment.

The sandblast foil is glued on the granite surface. Then the jet hood is place on the surface to be machined and the unit is started. Due to the reached negative pressure the jet hood adheres to the subsoil. The blasting agent is sucked through a jet lance on the surface with approximately 400 km/h.

The suction absorbs the blast media directly. Blast media and debris are separated by cyclone principle. That way no dust develops during blasting. The work is environmentally friendly and afterwards the blast media doesn´t have to be collected and swept up. The vacuum blast method is operating in a permanent cycle. The same granulate can be re-used up to 100 times.

That way writing, graphics and photos can be applied directly on the cemetery or workshop.
Even the finest details on photos, graphics and QR-codes can be blasted on the material with astonishing depth. If motifs are blasted with the high-resolution foil of Strahlfolien.de, you can relocate the jet cap easily without damaging or moving the pixels of the sandblast foil. That way, Also bigger motifs can be created good and safe – even on site of the cemetery.

Lately the demand of QR codes on tombstones has significantly increased. Many customers would like to put QR codes on the tombstone subsequently. No problem for vacuum blast machine Tornado ACS. For a photo of the size 20 x 20 cm it takes about 30 minutes on site.

The jet hood is equipped with a soft and smooth sponge rubber layer, so that also uneven and strained surfaces can be blasted. That way it is possible to remove pollutes and graffiti from facades and rough cast.

Zink Körner supplies efficient and eco-friendly galvanizing furnace to Wiegel

Design with emphasis on resource saving

Zink Körner has successfully implemented the order for Wiegel Neuwied Feuerverzinken GmbH & Co KG, covering the supply of a batch-galvanizing furnace for the new Neuwied facilities. By introducing design features such as infinitely adjustable, modulating flat flame burners, a wall construction with a markedly reduced heat transfer and a novel reflecting refractory coating, Zink Körner has significantly increased the energy efficiency of batch galvanizing. The new furnace has been in „liquid“ operation since May 5, 2013. In early June, Wiegel commissioned the complete galvanizing line in its new works in Neuwied.

In response to the growing demand for hot-dip galvanized components, Wiegel has built a new hot-dip galvanizing plant in Neuwied – the most modern and environmentally friendly of all plants operated by the Wiegel Group. The galvanizing furnace was supplied by Zink Körner. The new furnace is mainly used to galvanize structural components made of steel or other metals.

The galvanizing tank is 15.5 m long, 3.2 m deep and 1.8 m wide. These dimensions enable it to handle parts of up to 15.3 m length. The plant is designed for throughput rates of up to 16.5 t/h.

Smooth and mild heating
The furnace features 14 flat flame burners of the FL 20/50 type, which Körner developed specifically for batch galvanizing. These burners use natural gas as fuel, which is available at relatively moderate cost. Their design allows them to provide the same smooth and mild heating as previously only achievable by electrically heated furnaces.

The burners achieve an efficiency of >72 percent. This makes Zink Körner a market leader also in terms of energy efficiency. Unlike burners commonly used in the past, they operate in a modulating mode which makes them infinitely adjustable within a range of 1:10.

Diffusor plates mounted on the burners direct the gas flow along the inner furnace wall. This produces a combination of radiant and convective heat, which has the positive effect that a high input of heat into the liquid zinc is achieved at relatively low furnace temperatures.

Peter Kordt, Managing Partner of Zink Körner, explains why the furnaces operate at such an excellent efficiency level: „We exploit every possibility that may help reduce the consumption of energy. Let“s take, for example, the flat flame burners, which we developed specifically for use in batch galvanizing. Compared with plants using non-continuous burners, furnaces using our flat flame burners achieve impressive energy savings of, for example, some 500,000 kWh in a facility with a throughput rate between 10 and 15 t/h operated in two shifts for 4,000 hours per year. At a price of 5 cents per kWh, this results in cost savings of 25,000 euros per year.“

The output of the burners is constantly infinitely adjusted to the throughput of the furnace. Thus the temperature drop in the zinc bath caused by the dipping of a new batch is minimized. Another positive feature is that the furnace always consumes just the amount of energy needed in a certain situation. This regulating mode also avoids abrupt temperature changes, which otherwise would cause strain in the galvanizing tank structure. Thanks to these features, furnaces from Körner achieve long service lives.

Controlling the overpressure in the furnace chamber guarantees that the heat is evenly distributed in all areas of the furnace and that the energy is optimally exploited.

High energy efficiency

The multi-layer, 300-mm-thick insulation material reduces heat losses. As an additional measure, the internal surfaces of the furnace are covered with a reflecting refractory coating. This coating protects the furnace insulation against erosion and cuts thermal losses. This results in lower furnace wall temperatures, a lower waste-gas temperature and, consequently, higher efficiency.

As the waste-gas ducts are installed inside the furnace, they also contribute to a uniform, extensive and smooth heating of the tank. Körner also uses the waste heat from the furnace to heat the inlet air.

The entire firing system achieves efficiencies better than 72 percent. In hot-dip galvanizing applications, such high efficiencies used to be achieved only by electric heating systems, which are much more expensive.

Dr.-Ing.Thomas Happle, Managing Director Technology of the Wiegel group, explains his decision: „Our company is renowned for its awareness of resource utilization, which we have repeatedly demonstrated in numerous projects. With its highly efficient burners, elaborate control system, consistent insulation concept and its heat recovery system, the new furnace for the Neuwied plant represents the optimum of what is currently available on the market.“

In Salzburg, too, the „silent revolution“ of battery powered and natural gas driven vehicles is becoming noticeable, with the noiseless high-tech cars becoming an increasingly common sight on city streets. Two vehicles of the natural gas driven sort have been running a service that is commendable more than one sense: sponsored by Intercom market leader Commend, they get groups of employees to and from work at the company“s headquarters in the Salzburg district of Liefering every day.

Both of the sponsored cars are generally available to all employees, although they are used primarily for car pooling. Already an average ten to twelve colleagues make use of the service, enjoying the relaxing drive to work in the morning and being chauffeured back home after a hard day“s work. The service has been very well received by everyone and is particularly appreciated by the growing „Commend car pool community“. „To be able to provide enough space and cover more destinations, we are considering organising a third run, perhaps even getting a third vehicle,“ says a smiling Roland Eichberger, who is responsible for staff development and training at Commend International.

Apart from the car poolers, the environment is relieved as well. „Reducing up to 24 drives a day to four saves around 147,000 km per year,“ says Mario Urban, Commend“s subsidization manager. With a view on active environmental protection, this means cutting down pollution by approximately 24 tonnes of carbon dioxide a year while reducing nitric oxide emissions by around 78 kg and particulate by 4.85 kg.

The programme is state sponsored within the framework of the klima:aktiv mobil initiative for traffic related climate protection measures. The goal of this particular programme is to motivate a maximum number of companies, public institutions and property developers to implement mobility management at their facilities to help reduce greenhouse gas emissions and transport rationalisation.
