Aachen (Germany), in October 2016. ecoDMS GmbH is releasing the new ecoDMS version 16.09 (eleanor) for Windows, Ubuntu, Debian, Raspbian, QNAP NAS and Synology NAS. The packages for MacOS are coming soon. ecoDMS expects the MacOS release during the course of the following weeks.

The current major release ecoDMS version 16.09 (eleanor) starts a new era of document archiving. ecoDMS customers can look forward to state-of-the-art technology and new archiving functions: A first class server technology with a secure, encrypted container storage system and automatic, time-controlled backup functions, a clipboard to create customized document portfolios, linking documents, new search and preview functions (for example shortcut search and keyword highlighting in the preview) an intelligent side panel and much more. This is just a small extract of what ecoDMS version 16.09 (eleanor) has on offer.

Being a client-server system, ecoDMS saves all settings, user data and classifications in a database. The archived files and documents are stored safely encoded in containers within the user’s ecoDMS server. Spreading information across containers and a database offers more security and flexibility when managing data.

In the Settings dialogue box, users can configure automated, time-controlled backups now. ecoDMS then performs the backup automatically at the specified time.

The side panel is already deemed to become a particular highlight for all ecoDMS Archive users. It displays on the right of the screen. Users can drag and drop files into the panel. Depending on the selection, ecoDMS Archive executes automatic pre-classification and archiving without any need for action by the user.

A further innovation is the integrated shortcut function. With a user-defined shortcut, users can start the ecoDMS full-text search from any application. The matching search results are immediately displayed in the ecoDMS archive.

If a document preview exists for a retrieved file, the recognised words from the full-text search are highlighted in colour in the preview window. A mouse-click takes users to the required passages.

The new combination of the archive client and the scan software makes archiving even more user-friendly and more convenient. Immediately after the scanning process, users can retrieve the documents on the Inbox tab in the ecoDMS Archive client. All archived text documents automatically undergo background full-text indexing and are available in ecoDMS Archive in the original scan format and also in the long-term archiving format PDF/A.

Germany, Aachen, in September 2016. ecoDMS GmbH is releasing the latest generation of the successful archiving software ecoDMS and with it an entirely new website. In the first step only the Windows packages of Eleanor are available. The components for Ubuntu, Debian, MacOS, Raspberry Pi and Docker (incl. QNAP and Synology NAS) are coming soon.

A glance at the remarkable change log proves: ecoDMS users can look forward to a great version with many interesting functions: Starting with a first class server technology with a secure, encrypted container storage system and automatic, time-controlled backup functions, a user-friendly clipboard to create customized document portfolios and new search and preview functions and modern archiving technology, ecoDMS version 16.09 (eleanor) is a true milestone in the archiving world.

The side panel is already deemed to become a particular highlight for all ecoDMS Archive users. The side panel displays on the right of the screen after you have enabled it in the connection manager. Documents can be dragged from anywhere to a specified classification template in the side panel. The documents are then automatically archived without any need for action by the user. Because the side panel is accessible from everywhere, it allows archiving from virtually all locations at the workplace.

Saving all archived data in a container opens up new possibilities for archiving, data backup and restoring data. Spreading information across containers and a database offers more security and flexibility when managing data.

Eleanor will simplify the backup process of the archiving solution even more. In addition to the existing OneClick backup and the console programmes, users are able to configure automated, time-controlled data backups in the Settings dialogue box. ecoDMS then automatically executes a backup at the specified time.

A further innovation is the integrated shortcut function. With a user-defined shortcut, users can start the ecoDMS full-text search from any application. The matching search results are immediately displayed in the ecoDMS archive.

If a document preview exists for a retrieved file, the recognised words from the full-text search are highlighted in colour in the preview window. If a term occurs multiple times in a document, ecoDMS also displays an overview of the text snippets containing the term in the preview window. A mouse-click takes users to the required passages.

The combination of the archive client and the functions for the inbox processing of scanned documents makes archiving even more user-friendly and more convenient. Immediately after the scanning process, users can retrieve the documents on the Inbox tab in the ecoDMS Archive client. On the tab there are several functions available to process your emails, for example, rotate, delete, move. All scanned invoices, agreements, letters, etc. can be transferred immediately to the document archive for revision-secure archiving via the ecoDMS Archive Inbox.

Aachen, June 2016. Since the beginning of June it has been official: In autumn 2016 the new major release of ecoDMS version 16.XX (eleanor) will be released. There is a lot of expectation and excitement in the run up to this version. Today the manufacturer has revealed the first details on the software. ecoDMS users can look forward to a brand new design and the merger of ecoDMS and ecoICE clients.

A first image of the new version shows a user interface that combines the archive with the mail inbox. Fresh colours, new icons and a flat, modern „material design“ give a new radiance to ecoDMS.

The independent clients ecoDMS and ecoICE will be merged with the next major release to increase user-friendliness. The two interfaces will be on separate tabs, which makes it easy and convenient for users to switch between the two.

The ecoDMS permissions module ensures secure access and the correct permission for the software functions that should be available to a specified user. The administrator can specify which functions are available to a user. Thus a user can, for example, have total access, only view the mail inbox, or may only be allowed to access the archive.

The merger of both ecoDMS components will further optimise the archiving steps and moreover enable the provision of new ecoDMS functions. What those functions are will not be revealed yet. However, one thing is certain: From the technical, functional and design point of view the new major release will again be a first class archiving system.

Over the coming weeks more secrets from the treasure trove of ecoDMS GmbH will be revealed.

WMD User Group to Meet in Valby

WMD Scandinavia to bring WMD User Group participants up-to-date on business-process-oriented workflow solutions on May 19 in Valby, Denmark

Valby/Denmark, 10. May 2016 – xSuite-solution customers and partners will come together on May 19, 2016, for the annual User Group gathering in Denmark at the headquarters of the Scandinavian WMD subsidiary. The gathering is centered around exchanging information and experience.

Experts from WMD will brief participants on current releases and new solutions from the portfolio of the xSuite solutions portfolio. New applications will be presented along with more familiar ones in SAP ERP, enabled for SAP Fiori and S/4HANA. Presentations will focus on new folder solutions and essential business processes for all ERP systems and browsers, as well as a digital mailroom for the receipt of all information in and out of the cloud. This solution, xFlow Mailroom, manages the automatic content-based classification of incoming post. It is a digital distribution station that receives documents from different sources, processes them automatically, and then forwards them based on an internal ruleset.

At the User Forum, WMD Scandinavia will also introduce a new archive solution for SAP for storing and retrieving documents via SAP ArchiveLink. This solution is also available as a Web service. The new research client developed is based on the SAP UI5 Framework. The products Personnel File for SAP and Customer File for SAP are folder solutions for the structured display and storage of documents via SAP ArchiveLink as content provider. The WMD User Group gathering will end with a barbeque and tunes served up by a DJ. The Forum itself will end at 8 p.m.

Aachen, March 2016. The ecoDMS software is a data management system for scanning, archiving, managing and retrieving any type of data and document. The archiving system is ideal because it is platform-independent, simple, flexible, and can be licensed for small and large companies. ecoDMS can be applied in all kinds of industries and even in private households. For private use the archive comes for free with limited functionality. The full version is available for the affordable price of 49 Euros.

Digitalising and archiving files and documents with ecoDMS is up-to-date and easy. With ecoDMS you can archive virtually all file formats safely and long-term. ecoDMS can be integrated easily into your network or you can use it on a PC. As a client-server system, the ecoDMS server forms the base of the entire application. The server is not a piece of hardware, but a software component. The ecoDMS server is installed on a computer, a server or an NAS. The ecoDMS clients and plugins can be installed on any number of computers.

The ecoDMS development and licensing model is unique. Our engineers have combined professional custom developments with mature open source components. For example, the OCR engine „Tesseract“ is integrated in ecoDMS. The database is also open source. With „postgreSQL“ ecoDMS has opted for a platform-independent database that offers virtually unrestricted data volume. As these are free software components, customers have no additional costs.

As a data management system, ecoDMS has all functions for convenient archiving. Documents stored in ecoDMS can be automatically assigned according to specified attributes and also archived without requiring manual intervention from the user. This is made possible by the intelligent ecoDMS template designer. It automatically recognises incoming documents, sorts the data to the right place, automatically fills in the necessary classification attributes, and even automatically stores the data in ecoDMS if desired.

For archiving ecoDMS offers various options. These include archiving via drag and drop directly into the ecoDMS client, scanning and archiving via ecoICE, printing with the virtual PDF/A printer, archiving through various Office plugins, e-mail add-ons and mobile apps, and the option of archiving via web interface.

Searching for archived data with ecoDMS is as easy as googling. Readable files, the classification attributes and metadata are full-text indexed automatically by ecoDMS. The full-text search allows a search process across all recognised information. The documents can be retrieved in a matter of seconds.

You can download the software for free at the ecoDMS website www.ecodms.de. Following the installation ecoDMS is available for 30 days as a demo version with full functionality. If no licence code is entered, the system automatically restricts the functions after 30 days. This is then the Free4Three Edition. It may only be used privately, but for an unlimited period of time. Those, who want to use ecoDMS after the demo phase and/or with the full scope of functions, need a licence for the full version.
