KUKA Systems gewinnt red dot award

KUKA Cobra and KUKA flexibleCUBE win the red dot award

KUKA Systems GmbH has been honored once again this year with the red dot design award – for not one, but two products. The focus was on the KUKA flexibleCUBE and the KUKA Cobra, which have now received the red dot award – product design 2013. The international jury of experts was impressed by these applications.

As a leading system integrator, KUKA Systems GmbH is an active partner for many companies. For small enterprises right up to large production lines such as those found in the automotive industry, the system specialist offers services, solutions and products. The fact that KUKA Systems also has an eye for the „outward appearance“ of its products was this year acknowledged by the red dot jury as well. Composed of 37 international experts, the red dot jury evaluated a total of 4,662 products, from which only 1.2 percent were selected for the red dot design award. Among these were the products KUKA Cobra and KUKA flexibleCUBE.

KUKA Cobra – award-winning press automation
The KUKA Cobra is designed for linking several presses within a press line. The KUKA Cobra is mounted on the robot arm as an additional linear and swivel axis for fast loading and unloading of the presses. The extremely flat and compact design of the axis makes it possible to increase productivity and reduce the space between presses, while uniquely combining the dynamic performance of a linear axis with the flexibility of a robot. „The use of carbon and structural elements results in a synthesis of engineering, design and innovative technology together with pioneering lightweight construction,“ says Frank Klingemann, CEO of KUKA Systems GmbH.

KUKA flexibleCUBE – accolade for first step into automation
As a first step into automation or as an expansion of manufacturing capacities, the KUKA flexibleCUBE can be simply integrated into the manufacturing process. Targeted planning, fast integration, intuitive operator control and simple maintenance – these are KUKA Systems“ contribution to process reliability in modern manufacturing. The KUKA flexibleCUBE is a standardized compact welding cell. Modular, and with a wide range of automation options. „The fact that technology and functionality can have an appealing design as well as being practical and reliable was recognized by the jury with a further award for our new welding cell,“ Klingemann continues.

The renowned jury has thus acknowledged once again that KUKA Systems is not only an expert system builder, but also an advocate of good design. „This award makes us very proud,“ says Frank Klingemann.
